Install Battery Charger and Maintainer
Dean installed the battery charger and maintainer on my 98 Corvette. He has done multiple repairs on my car in the past. Service as well as price has always been excellent which is why I will not go anywhere else. All employees are knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Great place.

Oil Leak Repair
Mr. Dean and his staff are the BEST!!! My husband and I wouldn't trust our vehicles being worked on by anyone else. We have multiple vehicles which we wouldn't hesitate putting on the road for a long distance trip. All of the run as if they were new. He and his staff are courteous and knowledgeable. Not to mention the prices are reasonable.

Dean is a very honest and hardworking man. His employees are super skilled and got my car back on the road in one day. They are fast, courteous and so very knowledgeable. replaced sway bar links, oil change and oil pan gasket replacement, transmission refurbishment, ABS and brake adjustments.
Dropped off the wife's YUKON at 9 and picked it up at 3! Dean and his crew are top notch car people, have the knowledge and expertise that you need to keep your vehicle running like it's supposed to. They keep the shop clean and everything is in it's place. Five stars just isn't enough.

Fabrication
Its nice to know that there's a place that exist when parts cannot be purchased from a vendor Dean can manufacture them. GM had discontinued the bracketry for a steering column and a chassis to ball pivot rod. Dean's fabricated what was needed and it works better than new! Your business is a God send to our community! Diagnostic work
I Took my Jeep to several local shops to hear nothing can be done about the running rough problem there is no check engine light on to get codes from! Was referred to Dean's and my jeep runs like new again. They must know more than the computer can sense here. Great job Dean's Performance

Diagnostic and service
All I can say is refreshing honesty!! Other local shops said I needed a full front end suspension rebuild for a popping noise. Was referred to Dean's and he fixed my sway bar links and no more noise!!! Payed 150.00 and others quoted 1100.00 dollars. So nice to meet an honest man in this screwed up world!! Air Conditioning
Dean was recommended to me by a friend in the automotive industry (which says volumes) when my air conditioning failed. I dropped my car off and got a call a few hours later. Dean did not have good news, and his recommendation was that I not proceed with the air conditioning repair. The parts alone would have been $1,800. But while the car was up on the lift, he did a further evaluation and found that the transmission was questionable at best and there was a possibility that it, too, would fail in the next year or so. That might have added $5 - 7,000 to the bill. Where many mechanics would have gone ahead with the repair, Dean did not. I found his honesty refreshing. His truthfulness is jut evidence of his integrity. Going beyond the immediate problem to evaluate the whole rather than the part demonstrates his integrity further. He cares. And as an added bonus, he had the cleanest garage I have ever seen! I would recommend him without reservation.

Break-switch
After going to the same automotive shop in Wilmington for my cruise control not working, they installed 3 brake switches and the issue continued - I decided it was time to try a different route. A friend referred me to Dean and right off the bat I felt confident Dean would fix the issue. Not only did he correct the problem, he kept me informed (via text) with the problem and what he was going to do to resolve the issue. The least to say - he has my business going forward. HONEST, RESPECTFUL, KNOWLEDGEABLE,TRUSTWORTHY are the words that come to mind when I think of Dean. THANK YOU Dean! Matt E

Turbo repair
Went to a so called shop in Leland and was diagnosed a turbo bad and needing replacement on my Volvo. I Could not afford there 1859.99 dollar quote and was skeptical of it really being bad, was referred to Deans by a friend and he diagnosed my problem as a bad boost sensor NOT my turbo!!!

Complete clutch repair/replacement on my 1992 F150 inline six
I cannot tell you enough how refreshing it was to have found a shop that actually cares and is the most professional mechanic shop I have ever visited. Very impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail during the course of repairing my clutch on my truck. Every step of the way I was informed on the progress and even when there was a discontinued part, Dean was able to fabricate the parts needed back to factory specifications. Prior to this I had taken my truck to numerous shops and they were never able to get it to properly shift. Dean is very thorough and provided pictures and actually showed where others had not completed the work properly that I had done years ago (BUT I PAID FOR!). With the high quality parts and professional repairs my truck now shifts like she did when my parents drove her off the lot all those years ago. Repair work
I had problems with my tachometer jumping sporadically. I contacted Dean that evening, was told to drop it off the next day and it was repaired and ready the next afternoon. Dean explains thoroughly what is taking place and what needs to be done. His prices are very reasonable and he does excellent work. I have used him several times and have no complaints.

Would not crank
Had a starting problem with my car, took it to a local shop here in Leland, not to mention which shop!!! Had a diagnostic done for 85 dollars, they said I had a bad starter. Replaced it my self to save money and it still would not start! While purchasing the starter the parts guy told me about Dean, called and discussed what my problem was, Dean told me the starter relay was an issue in my particular model, replaced the relay and it is starting like before the issue happened. Talking about helping our community out! Went by to give Dean some money for helping me out and his response was no! God bless me and to have a good day. Dean is a God send to our community! Others just want everything they can get from you! Thanks Dean....

Idler pulley replacement
I have an 07 Toyota Camry SE V6, with 102k miles on it. It started making a grinding type noise on the side of the serpentine belt. It was running fine, no loss in performace but the noise started getting worse. At first I thought maybe it was a bad belt, bad tensioner, bad water pump, bad alternator...I was thinking the worse. I knew I needed to get it looked at asap. So a good friend of mine referred me to Dean over at Deans Performance Racing. I scheduled an appointment with Dean, took it in, Dean broke it down the same day. As soon as he found out what was wrong, he called me and provided me with recommendations on what we should do. He informed me the problem was not the water pump (still had 30k miles on it), it wasn't the belt (still in great shape, no cracks) and the belt tensioner was also still good for about 20-30k miles. He said the actual problem was with the Idler pulleys, the bearings had gone bad. He said he could replace it all (belts, water pump, tensioner, etc..) but he told me it was not needed. I knew he was an honest technician when he mentioned that he's not a fan of replacing parts that do not need replacing. I commend him on that as most technicians these days would have seen an opportunity to take advantage of the situation, Dean did not, he was genuinely honest about what needed to get done to resolve the problem. He quoted me a price, which was beyond fair.O Once I approved the work, Dead got all the work done and had my car ready the next day. Dean did a great job. My car is running like a champ again. In this day and age, its hard to find a an honest trustworthy technician. Well folks, Dean is your guy hands down! Moving forwarding I will be taking all my car repair needs to Dean. Thanks again Dean, , i'll see you again at 120-130k miles! -Danny

All my repairs
I had used a number places over the years and never had that peace of mind I was truly taken care of when I left. Deans Performance was recommended and I felt right about going there for anything wrong with my vehicles, motorcycle and even my childs minibike. I discovered that not only is Dean a top rated master mechanic but also a great example of a Christian man. He always looks for the best and most economical fix for his customers. He has saved me thousands of dollars of the years II have used his company. He main focus is always the right time to do the right thing and take care of people the way a Christian should so your business will be blessed. Complete Resto Mod for 1968 Camaro SS
We had Dean perform a complete resto mod on our Camaro and now she drives like a dream. He really brought out the beast in her and smoothed out all her issues. We could not be happier. He also has worked on several of our other cars and even my grandma's and I wouldn't trust anyone else with them. He is a stickler on details and can pretty much fix anything.He has also worked on our Dixie Chopper lawn Mower and our Polaris 4x4.He is an honest and just all around great person and top-notch mechanic. Runs rough and cutting off
Went to every shop in Leland for a cutting off issue and was charged diagnostic charges at each, they said nothing could be done because the computer checked good with no codes! Contacted Dean after a referral from the local parts store, Dean checked the computer with the same results as before no codes! left it with him hoping for the best, he found the problem when the others and even the computer couldn't sense the problem! What a guy! Customer for life here!!!!

Wiring problems
Anymore all you here is how shops screw consumers by over quoting and selling you stuff that you don't need! Axel and Tires were knocked out of place
Dean is a great car mechanic! My car was in a bad state and dean helped fix my car, and now it drives and feels 100% better. I recommend Dean's Racing and Automotive to any and everyone who has car troubles and wants expert and professional work done on it.

4x4 repair
Talking about honesty, I am blown away! I came to Deans Performance after reading the reviews here, I was called notifying me I was owed 80 dollars, I had wrote the check for too much. All other shops will over charge you and never blink an eye! What an honest man!! Thanks mechanic advisor for sponsoring such a great guy and his business! ??????

Electrical repair
I had 2 quotes for my wiring harness (replacement) and computer (replacement) which 2 shops in Leland said I needed, both shops were around 2200.00 dollars. I had my doubts because they seemed like they didn't know what they were talking about when asked why I needed these parts. They said I just needed them.. Paid over 160 in diagnosis time! That evening I was talking to a parts guy about my cars issues and was referred to Deans Performance and was told he was the best around on diagnostics, had it towed over the next day and was called that evening saying I needed a fuse link and some wiring repair to my computer. Told me I was looking at 425.75!!! My car runs and drives great again!!!!! Sorry for the lengthy comment but if this helps someone save over 1500.00 as it did myself it's worth it! Dean is the most knowledgeable and honest man I have ever met! Explained everything to me from start to finish and treated me as his friend! God bless Deans Performance and his business where I found honesty is his policy! My go to guy for all work going forward!!!!

Missing and running rough
What can I say the reviews don't lie, was referred by a friend to go see Dean for my jeep problems. My shop of choice installed a fuel pump, coil, wires, plugs and a fuel filter and charged me dearly! When I picked it up the problem was still there! Took it to Dean and a simple sensor was the problem, my jeep runs great now and I have found a real shop that fixes the problem the first time!!

Rear Differiantial rebuild
Just want to say if your looking for a professional down to earth guy give Dean a try and you will not go anywhere else! Outstanding service, great pricing and quick turnaround. Blown Head Gasket
The guys of Dean's Performance are the best and honest mechanics. First met Dean and Crew after our 1968 Camaro had a blown head gasket. We got recommend to him by our tire guy. Called Dean we set up a time for the car to get tow to his shop. We talked once we got there about the best case and worst case scenario once he tore the top half of the engine. He had great communication with us thru out the entire process. Got it fixed and the price was very affordable. The best part to all this is that I have never seen anywhere else provide a detailed top to bottom invoice of what and how the work was done to the car. We like his work and shop so much that now he works on our Polaris as well. If you need a honest and reliable shop, Dean's Perfomance is the place to go.

Nitrous repair and tune
Had been to 2 performance shops with no success of smooth nitrous transition and continuous backfiring was totally disgusted and ready to send it back to the manufacturer after the other shops said I had a bad kit, much to my surprise my preferred shops were out in left field!!!! Never to return to them again!!!! Found Dean by a referral at the Kinston drag strip, took my car over and was called the same day saying it was ready, was preparing to test drive it and get the same effect as before. When I arrived Dean took me for a test drive, WOW unreal performance out of my so called bad nitrous kit! Was running 65 mph Dean banged it to 2nd gear smoking the tires off in high second and all of third, hmmm bad kit my ass!!! I have found a true Performance shop that earns to wear the name!!! Thx Deans PERFORMANCE!

Performance tuning
Had several performance shops try to get my Ss to like nitrous with no success! Was referred to Dean by one of my drag racing friends and guess what, my Ss loves nitrous now! 95 SS impala 5.7 3200 lbs / before super tune 8.67 660 foot pass after super tune with re jetting, proper fuel psi to nitrous ratio, timing tricks, cam degree tricks, and spring loading for weight transfer by Dean and now my street car is at 6.91 in the 660 ft pass! Thx Dean!!

4x4 repair
I was quoted a transfer case overhaul by others to fix my 4 wheel drive at the tune of 800 dollars, took it to Deans after talking with the local parts store asking who was the best around the area for troubleshooting problems. Guess what Dean fixed a vacuum line going to my transfer case and my 4x4 works great!! The Honesty of Mr. Dean Rathburn has earned him a customer for my lifetime. Total cost of repair was 75 dollars :-) thanks Dean!

Diagnostic and repair
Me and the family was traveling through NC from Georgia and wanted to thank mechanic advisor for listing Deans Performance. Located Deans on a google search and was 100 percent satisfied with my repair. Our Dodge ram was jerking and cutting off at stop lights come to find out we had a bad ignition coil. Dean corrected the problem and she drove great all the way back home! Its always a scary feeling when your vehicle acts crazy away from home, Dean treated me as I had known him forever! Performance related troubleshooting
All I can say is wow, I was provided a quote from the GM dealer in SC while I was traveling home after stopping in for a sluggish condition and surging condition. The GM dealer quoted me a computer and reprogramming price of $1900 dollars. Me and the wife weighed the options and said we would try to drive it the rest of the way home to our personal technician Dean. Dropped it off that evening after making it home at Deans, the next day I was called saying it was ready and my total bill was a 75 diagnostic fee, a 20 dollar hose and some fittings and 1 hour labor. My total bill was $190... The Chevrolet dealer needs to be locked up for trying to rob the consumers blind!!!! Who knows they might have installed the new computer and the problem still existed? Great Job Dean!!!! I cannot say enough about Deans honesty :)

Diagnostic testing
I had been to 3 different local repair shops and dumped over 1500 dollars in my vehicle to eliminate a check engine light so I could pass emissions testing. I was referred to Dean by a friend that has all of his work done by Dean, what a great experience I had with Dean and his technical expertise. He explained everything so I could understand the operating system on my vehicle that was giving me problems. When it all was said and done my total bill was 345.98 dollars and the wiring problem to my PCM had been corrected, that the other shops overlooked and just started replacing parts to try to eliminate the problem!
