Kens Auto Service

I went to Ken's today for gas. I went inside to pay using my Price Chopper advantage card and my unemployment debit card (they are not accepted at the pump).  I have done this at other Sunoco stations and never had to inform them of which grade gas I need.  I returned to the pump and realized that the regular grade was selected, my sons 1999 vw jetta needs 91 octane.  So I went inside and apologized to him and asked him to switch it to premium. His response was "You have to f&^%$#@ tell me that before you pay, I'm not a f$#$#$# mind reader!" My jaw dropped and I asked if he was the owner, to which he replied "yes, go tell someone who cares". He then proceeded to insult me for not having cash to pay for my gas. I hope his life gets better as he clearly is very unhappy. BTW I SELECTED ONE STAR AS THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THIS POSTED.  HIS SERVICE DESERVES NO STARS AT ALL

I had been using  Ken's Auto Service for a few years up until recently. His prices had seemed reasonable and the services appeared to be a good value  overall. However, at no point in time was Ken, presumably the owner,  a pleasant man to deal with. He was generally contentious and his bedside manner left much to be desired. Suffice it to say that the guy was always in a foul mood and quite obviously had If Yelp o concern for customer satisfaction or retention.  I continued to go back out of convenience ce and simply as a result of not being aware of any other decent repair outfit in town. It appears, in my opinion, that Ken may have finally lost his grip on reality and his highly ill-tempered personality may have taken a sharp turn south. I have finally had enough of Ken and his poor attitude, forgetfulness (he never appeared to recognize me despite the fact that I had been in his shop probably once a month for years)  and unprofessional behavior. I have seen him treat customers, including me,  with disrespect for the last time.  If you have to drive 150 miles out of your way to find another repair shop, do it.... You'll be glad you did. 

Got a fill up today and decided to share this email I sent to his Sunoco manager:
My husband and I have been long time patrons of Ken's Auto Service 230 Church Avenue Ballston Spa, NY and Ken was a savoir again today!  Tonight we were to drop off Terry's car to be worked on and he would take my car to work tomorrow.  But this afternoon when I went to start my car the battery was dead and I had to call AAA for a jump.  I went straight to Ken's and he had a battery ordered, delivered and installed right away.  Now all our plans will be able to go along smoothly.  For many years we have used this Sunoco station for all our gas - even before Ken took over.  We are supporters of this station because it does superior work, but mostly because there has never been a time when he and his men have not done everything in their power to help us as quickly and professionally as possible.  Besides they have good gas....  Sunoco is lucky to have such an asset.
