ECM
It's been over 8 years since I overnighted my 2001 Toyota RAV4 ECM to Check Engines ETC. after reading the RAV4 forum. I did it due to the same reasons many others did. Toyota wouldn't fix the problem. They claimed my VIN wasn't on the list that they would fix. After 8 years, I am still doing just fine. I still appreciate the wonderful service I received. Yes, I'm still driving the same RAV4.

2003 Rav4 ECM repair
Same as everyone above. Was originally hesitant to send the computer by mail to someone I hadn't met, but the guys at Check Engine repaired the computer sent it back same day, and I haven't had any issues since. Shifting is better now than I remember it ever being. The saved me $1400 and I'm telling everyone about them. Thanks so much! David

Rav4 ECM Repair
I was having issues with my 2003 Toyota Rav4. The symptoms were slipping gears, slow acceleration from stop, harsh shifting. My first thought was transmission going bad. I checked the transmission fluid, and it appeared to be fine but I wasn't sure. I began checking online to see if I could take it somewhere to have the transmission fluid checked. I almost scheduled an appointment with a shop but thought I would google around to find more information about these symptoms. I came up with many results pointing to the ECM. I wound up on the rav4world forum with many posts about this problem with the ECM going bad. I started digging deeper and began seeing rav4ecm.net mentioned in multiple places. I googled this garage in Brooklyn, Check Engine, Etc (rav4ecm.net) and decided to take a leap. I was a little hesitant to send this guy a critical component of my vehicle through the mail with a check in the box. But I figured it was this or the dealership. I decided it was worth the risk. I followed his instructions on how to remove the ECM and overnighted it to him on a Tuesday morning. He received it Wednesday morning, repaired it, and sent it back. I got in the mail Thursday afternoon. I installed it following his instructions and took it for an hour long test drive. I couldn't reproduce any of the problems I was having before. It's been almost a week since reinstall and haven't had any more issues (knock on wood). Definitely worth the $220 for the repair and $100 for overnight shipping.

Was told I needed to buy the ECM for my 2003 Toyota Rav4, even though toyota offered an extended warranty on this part for 10 years or 150,000 miles because of the number of problems they have had. My car only had 101,000 miles on it but Toyota wouldn't give me any relief whatsoever. Had my mechanic pull the ECM, sent it to check engine, etc, they returned it the same day, my mechanic installed the repaired ECM and I was back on the road in only 3 days. So for $200 plus UPS next day air service to and from Chicago to New York the RAV4 is shifting as if there was never a problem. FUCK TOYOTA for not doing the right thing but if you have this problem and the 10 years or 150,000 miles has expired give these folks a try I am glad I did, saved me at least $1000 probably more.

2002 RAV4 ECM repair
After 2 failed repairs by a company I found in the state I live in, I thought maybe the ECM was not the reason I was having shifting issues with my car. Before paying to have the transmission repaired/replaced or getting rid of my RAV4 I decided to send the unit to Check Engine Etc after reading all the positive reviews they have received. Turns out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made! My transmission shifts effortlessly now. If you are having issues you feel is caused by the ECM, do not hesitate, send it to them. If that's the problem, I am certain they can fix it. F Bryant

Rav4 computer reprogramming
My 2001 toyota rav4 was giving me lots of problems, hard shifting and sudden acceleration, losing power, a complete nightmare. Three different mechanics worked on the car and could not find anything wrong with it. They told me I needed to replace the transmition. I talked to these guys told me to take out the car computer and bring it to them. I did so. It took them 10 minutes to fix the problem. My rav4 is running like new. They are the real deal. Mirium
