Engine survey yanmar .
I wanted to write a review , because I had a very hard time finding the owner of this company .Thats why I gave him a 4 rating . I asked around on a guy to do a yanmar survey on a boat I was purchasing , a 40 mainship . Over and over again the same name came up superior , was told if your selling a boat with diesels you don’t want to see this guy show up ..I tired calling him and tracking him down online to fine some of his old numbers don’t work ..I finally emailed him after taking to one of of his old customers He called me in 15 minutes , I talked to him set up a date , and he came to do the survey as planned I did not purchase this boat , because of his findings ..I later purchased another one with Cummins As he gave that boat a clean survey . He’s not a guy that likes to talk , but He knows diesel boats well I would recommend him ..if you can get him it’s worth it ..what I understand there only a hand full of guys that have been around for years , Superior , wesco , Steve’s marine . Now I store my boat at his marina for the winter .Rob has been doing this all of his life , I trust him .

Gas to Diesel Conversion
I first met Rob at the Norwalk Boat show along with the rep from Mack Boring. At that time I was interested in replacing my gas engines with brand new. After speaking with Rob for around an hour, I decided to convert to Yanmar diesels. I then met with Rob at my marina for a full inspection of my boat and a detailed report of all work needed. it was also decided to replace the gas genset with a new diesel as well.The estimate I received,was not only fair, but included lots of extras for the same price. Along the way, Rob even sold both my engines and genset and made allowances for them. Once the work was completed, I could not have been happier with both the service and work performed. The engines ran perfect upon the first turn of the key and have done so for 3 years now. Rob is not easy to contact by phone, but send a text or e-mail, and he will respond usually within and hour or so. I would not hesitate for a minute, recommending Rob to a friend or anyone else who asks! As to the previous post with regard to losing his deposit. Rob did not ask for a single dollar until the engines were purchased. I then confirmed the purchase with Mack Boring, went to my boat to actually see them in place. I then paid for the engines, and labor was not requested until full completion of the job.

Yanmar.
Yanmar, I had a major issue with my 6ly2a , head issue superior came in changed one of my engines and replaced the head on other .Mack Boring gave him the parts and I paid labor .I really could not tell at all that the boat was apart .Perfect Job , done in two weeks .40 pc

Cummins Marine
I had Superior do my work on my Cummins in Montauk . He is very hard to get on the phone , best way I learned to get him in Montauk .Call STAR ISLAND , the owner of Superior likes Rich at star . Once Rich emails him he is on the phone . He is one of the top three , cummins marine guys .I had a issue that others looked at, he got on My boat and repaired in in two hours . I have been dealing with this issue for the whole summer . Email him to get him there it is worth it . I was told by someone else , on the dock that he will always come for Rich ,

I read this guys review , I have to say I have had Superior repower my boat 6 years ago, gave him a 100 k repower it was the best thing I ever did, . If I have a issue I email them and they come every time , I can tell you that if you have a sailboat , like the guy above , this is not your guy , he works on large boats like mine .I do not think sail boat guys can afford them. , I see the owner of Superior all the time, out on the east end working on 50 to 80 foot boats . The think that I can add , Superior is one of the best on Long Island .The worst thing I have to say about them , you can not get him on the phone , you have to be on his good list. If you make it there your boat will always run. Email is the best way to get him . Plus I find it hard believe the story of the review above , this guy works on so many high powered attorneys boats that love him .I posted this from his website . Fred , Yanmars 6lya

RUN FROM THIS COMPANY
SUPERIOR SPECIALIZED SERVICES IS A DISHONEST COMPANY THAT STOLE MY HARD EARN MONEY SPRING OF 2012: COMPANY TOOK A RATHER LARGE DEPOSIT, TO INSTALL AN ENGINE IN MY SAILBOAT. THEY PROMISED WORK WOULD START IN ONE WEEK…APPOINTMENTS WERE NEVER KEPT. THEY ALWAYS HAD AN EXCUSE THEY WERE TOO BUSY, AND WOULD GET TO THE INSTALLATION THE FOLLOWING WEEK. WHEN WEEKS TURNED INTO MONTHS, AND SAILING SEASON FAST APPROACHING, I ENDED UP DOING THE WORK MYSELF. NUMEROUS REQUESTS FOR MY DEPOSIT TO BE RETURNED WERE IGNORED. FINALLY TOOK COMPANY TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT, TO GET BACK DEPOSIT FOR WORK THAT WAS NEVER DONE. THE COURT SIDED WITH MY SUIT, AND THEY WERE SERVED PAPERS TO REPAY MY DEPOSIT. SINCE NO REPAYMENT HAS YET BEEN RECEIVED, A LIEN HAS BEEN ISSUED AGAINST SUPERIOR SPECIALIZED SERVICES. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY, LET ALONE PUTTING DOWN A DEPOSIT FOR PROMISED WORK, SINCE THEIR POLICY IS TO TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN…. VERY DISAPPOINTED THEY ARE STILL ALLOWED TO DO BUSINESS IN PORT WASHINGTON. RUN, RUN, RUN FROM DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED.
