Hadn’t needed auto service for a few years. The old Arlington automotive was absolutely the best. Things looked different in the showroom. I asked for Rusty, but I was told he left about 10 months ago and there is a new owner. I had several dash lights come on at the same time. After reading about what the cause could be,it was most likely a CVT transmission issue. The old Arlington automotive would and could repair any aspect of a vehicle. Main Street automotive quoted me $163 for diagnostic that I assumed would be applied to the repairs if I chose to let them work on the car. Assuming is never good when dealing with repair shops. Rusty had read codes at least a half dozen times over the years and never charged me. Even when I opted to do the repair myself and not leave the car. Diagnostic only takes a few minutes, I’ve watched it done dozens of times. A computer is plugged in under the dash and a code will appear that matches the dash icon problem. But I thought, well ok they are doing things differently now, I was there and need the car fixed. I left it. After a few hours I was contacted and told that they were not knowledgeable enough to fix my car. I was told I needed to take it to Subaru or a transmission shop. I hated that I was now going to have to go get the car and hope I made it to somewhere else. Upon picking up the car,I was informed of the $163 diagnostic charge. So I was charged $163 just to be told that that couldn’t fix my car and I need to take it somewhere else. That’s just not right!! I was never informed that they might not be smart enough to fix my car. One of the dash lights was an transmission overheat warning. Hmmm, they didn’t tell me they didnt work on the inside of transmissions. Their web sight plainly list transmission repairs as one of the services they offer. Plus the old Arlington automotive would have had the knowledge to fix it. Would it not be fair and good business to mention to an owner of car needing repairs, that if the diagnostic reveals possible transmission problems, they would not have the knowledge to do the repair. If they had said that……I wouldn’t have left the car and saved $163. Cost me another diagnostic that was applied to the repair cost. These new owners are scamming people with their diagnostic charge. How many times have they charged for the diagnostic and then declined the repair. I’m thinking a lot. Quick money!! When I confronted them about the misleading web page and the fact that they declined the repair and still charged me, I was offered a half shop credit or a free oil change. No thank you !! You people are deceitful and can’t be trusted. I would let y’all oil my bicycle chain.

I took my car in on Tuesday last week at 11:30 AM. The car was diagnosed and I was told the next morning I’d have the quote. That said, they could not give me a quote at all Wednesday with me calling multiple times. I called Thursday morning again no quote. By 11:30 Thursday I gave up. I don’t understand how 48 hours can pass and a mechanic team can’t even provide a quote. I called their competitor across the street told them what I needed and had a quote within 5 minutes. I even then had my truck back next business day after dropping it Thursday afternoon after retrieving from Arlington Auto. Terrible experience. Will not return.

A portion of why I brought my vehicle in wasn’t completed. The 4X4 was fixed, but the defroster wasn’t. I was charged for both. The customer service was really great, just disappointed in the need for me having to contact the store next week to inform them the work on the defroster was not completed.
