Owner called to rectify what the contract mechanic had quoted. The call came 24 yours later. New quote dropped the original quote to a reasonable price. The owner is a young lady who knows and values the business. Her young mechanic learned a valuable lesson, "Don't lie to a customer" he just may know something about cars even if he does drive a S-series Mercedes. The owner deserves a second chance but you should always know what typical service go for at an agency or a neighborhood shop. The work was completed quickly and well done. They delivered back a clean Tahoe.Owner called to rectify what the contract mechanic had quoted. The call came 24 yours later. New quote dropped the price to a resonable price. Service Cancelled

DANGER THIS IS WHAT THEY SAID: They quoted me a Compressor replacement at $1500 for a 2003 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 4wd and then tried to get me to replace the Water pump and thermostat saying the thermostat was inside the water pump and both needed replacement with the thermostat at $50.00 and another $500 for the pump. Vehicle had not leaked any fluid at any time. THESE ARE THE FACTS: Retail price on a compressor replacement kit new is $225 and includes all needed parts integral to the system. Replacement time is 2.5 man/hrs. To get to the water pump you must take off the thermostat housing which connects to the bottom radiator waterline and to the input port of the water pump. New water pump is $86.00 and new thermostat $8.00 labor rate 3 man/hrs. with the time all included as the thermostat is taken out when you access the water pump. All Prices and Repair Times used are industry standard. WHAT THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME: $2,050.00 THEIR ACTUAL RETAIL PARTS COST: $319.00 LABOR @ 84.00/HR TIME 5.5HRS: $462.00 PARTS MARKUP @30%: $414.70 TOTAL RETAIL REPAIR SHOULD HAVE BEEN: $876.00 ATTEMPTED PRICE GAUGE: $1174.00
