Walked in, needed 4 tires pulled off some wire wheels from an old Jaguar I have. They took us in right away, knocked it out in about 5 minutes, and disposed of the old tires. Fast, courteous, professional. And less than expected. Much less.

David Newman was a longtime family friend so I write this with sadness. In October 2023 I was told by a Chevy dealership that i needed a transmission replacement . The auto strike was in full effect and the time without my car had already passed a month and now a completion date was unknown. At this time I saw Mr Newman and he convinced me to have my car towed to his shop with promises that I could trust him to have my back and count on much quicker repairs than Chevy. I had my car towed that very same day we spoke. As promised he was able to have a transmission installed and my car ready to pick up much quicker than Chevy but the dependability and trust ended there. Soon after I had my car I could tell it was not shifting correctly. I contacted Mr. Newman and he assured me that the car was good since he test drove it himself. I hoped that he was correct and maybe it needed some time operating iwth the new transmission before it was running smooth. This little issue made me uncomfortable enough to ask for a copy of the invoice for my repairs as well as a copy of the warranty for the part and labor so I made my first request with the service advisor and was sent the invoice on the transmission. The invoice reflected the transmission cost for Mr. Newman and when I compared it to the amount my warranty company paid out to him i was taken back at the difference. I fully expected to see a difference since the shop is due a profit but this large of a difference prompted me to call my warranty company who confirmed that they paid that much since he reported a remanufactured transmission was purchased and installed not a used one . I then contacted Mr Newman and requested a copy of my warranty once again and i was given a brochure that advertised a nationwide coverage for 36 month or 36,000 miles whichever came first. Mr. Newman had told me it was 100,000 miles and this made me call the company to confirm. When I did I spoke to an agent who informed me that they did not cover transmissions at all so Mr. Newman lied to me and when i have tried to discuss this with him he ignores me and will not return my calls. He has essentially left me with a used transmission that has questionable performance and absolutely no warranty. Now that I have become a victim to his shady business practices and he has commited insurance fraud to make a quick profit off me I refuse to ever take my car back here and want to warn all other potentional victims . Beware of this business !! He does not genuinely care for his loyal unsuspecting customers like he states. Your money becoming his is the only goal and how he will do that is his only concern.

Finally, I have found a mechanic that does a good job AND that I feel I can trust! Not only do they have the best price I have found in the Austin area for a synthetic oil change, but they went through the list of what my car manufacturer recommended for my service and then let me know what actually should be done and what is just extra money. They gave me a great price and an in depth explanation as to what they did, what I need to watch for, what oil I should use when doing oil changes and most importantly didn't treat me like a dumb blonde (which admittedly when it comes to cars, I am) I will be back and I recommended everyone in the CP/Leander area - especially those with import/European cars to do the same!

Most mechanic shops are run down, sketchy, and you are there because you have to be. Luckily with Vick's it isn't a bad experience. Dane, the owner, is very friendly and will work with you to get you car working. I've been coming here for two years to service my accord; everything from oil changes to "my car won't start" and every time Dane has taken care of me. His prices are fair and I haven't had any issues with the work to date. Given what most experiences are with mechanics, all I can say is I'm thrilled to have found a good, fair, shop around Austin.
I've used Rose for everything under the sun--brake work, exhaust component replacement, O2 sensor replacement, oil changes, check-engine diagnosis. They've saved me hundreds by being honest about which repairs can wait and which are critical. Prices are amazing, and you'll never meet nicer people.

It is WORTH every penny. They come out and don't jerk you around. They arrived AND repaired my vehicle within 45 minutes of my call. When you consider the cost of a tow truck, you actually come out ahead, and since they come to where you are, it barely puts a hitch in your day. Tommy was wonderful!

Angel was super nice and helpful. I had one day left before a big move across country, and after calling several shops, this was the only place that had time to give me an oil change and look into a problem with the brakes. I got it all done before noon, and he gave me a discount. I made it to DC without any car trouble! I don't usually write reviews, but this shop saved my butt!

Because of my long, great history with y'all, I am disappointed in my most recent experience. While repairing the wiper motor there was some collateral damage to a door handle and fuel hose. As the car is over 30 years old, I know that these things happen. However, it is not reassuring to see these issues overlooked. I am not really sure how to rate y'all this time. When I pointed these issues out, y'all were extremely quick to fix them. I appreciate your fast and thorough service and hope to have future great experiences.

I run a used car dealership, so I have a lot of vehicles coming in and out of my possession that need repairs, tune-ups, etc. Car-X has given me great prices and impeccable service over the years, I have never even thought of going anywhere else because the service I get there is so good. They were unable to get one of my cars fixed on time once due to a situation outside of their control so they gave me a discount on the price.

I must agree with the gentleman before me, I was also approached about windshield cracks repair while I was waiting for inspection when I refused twice my inspection suddenly took 30 minutes and was failed over an oil drip called a massive leak..(BS) I was then told I could either get it fixed there or come back and move to the front of the line for re-inspection..when I came back they said 1hour.. And the manager turns out to also be one of the reps for the glass repair.. Of course it's all a sham.. They seem to have found money from insurance and window repair.
IF YOU WANT TO WAIT 3 1/2 WEEKS FOR A FENDER-BENDER JOB ESTIMATED AT 3 DAYS WHILE THE OWNER TRIES TO GET THE INSURANCE CO. TO PAY MORE MONEY THAN HE AGREED TO FIX IT FOR.... iF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR CAR BACK WITH NO WINDSHIELD WASHER TANK, DIFFERENT COLORED FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS, THE HOOD-RELEASE HANDLE AND CABLE LAYING ON THE FLOOR, THE $250 FAN YOU INSTALLED ON THE A/C HANGING BY A THREAD AND RUBBING A HOLE IN THE COOLING CORE, AND THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ON (BECAUSE OF A SPEED SENSOR CABLE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE CAR FROM THE REPAIRS) .... IF YOU WANT TO WAIT ANOTHER THREE WEEKS WHILE THE OWNER, GRADY FOSHEE, TRIES TO GET THE INSURANCE CO. TO PAY MORE MONEY TO FIX THE SPEED SENSOR, AND THEN TAKE IT TO A REAL MECHANIC WHO DiSCOVERS THE SPEED SENSOR CABLE HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED AND AND STUFFED INSIDE THE PARKING LIGHT WELL.... AND, FINALLY,.... IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THIRTY OR FORTY PHONE CALLS LISTENING TO EXCUSES FROM THE OWNER WHILE ALL THIS HAPPENS.... THEN, BY ALL MEANS GO TO ROAD RUNNER!! Otherwise, SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION!
I went to the Firestone on Clock Tower on Sunday, June 29, 2014, to repair a flat tire. After waiting several hours I was informed the tire was not repairable and I would need to purchase a new tire. I was asked to wait while they looked at the other tires and was soon told I needed to purchase two new tires. I was also informed that I had lifetime alignment and after the tires where installed the alignment would be complete. I ended up at the Firestone from approximately 2pm until 5:10 pm but the alignment was not completed. I told the location I had a 6pm appointment and could not be late. You would think 3 hours is adequate time to aligned and replace tires after they informed me I needed two new tires. I was told to come back later and the alignment would be handled. On Wednesday, I had work done at the VW Dealership and was informed the two obviously new tires were installed incorrectly: instead of being placed on the same side (driver side) they should have been placed opposite each other for even wear. The dealership strongly recommended I go back and have the people that sold me and installed the tires do it correctly. When I said it was done at Firestone, the dealer's service technician was shocked that the work was done so poorly. On Thursday, July 3, I called the Firestone on Clock Tower and asked about their availability to fix the problems caused by their work on Sunday. I was warned the work may take 2.5 hours. I agreed to the time and went in at 1:06pm. After waiting 2.5 hours, I was told they could not rotate the new tires from the driver's side to the back because I purchased directional tires. That the location of the tires was put in that location because it was easiest for the technician (he did not have to take off all four tires) and the alignment should have been done on Sunday. I am surprised that a location that has the posted quote on honesty being a key to doing business would give the excuse of doing what is easiest for the technician and not best for the vehicle, tires, or the consumer. I convinced the service manager that perhaps because I purchased the tires based on the recommendation of his store, he should figure out how to get the tires in the best location for the vehicle and for tire wear. After waiting until 4pm, I was informed the key to my wheel lock was stripped. Okay -- lucky for me I keep the spare. Although it does make me wonder what they were doing to my car between 1:06 and 4pm. After the tires were rotated, I was given the, in the service manager's mind, great deal of $20 off the alignment. Funny, because the guy on Sunday told me it was included with the work. I paid the additional $65ish amount. Happy to be free of the misery that is Firestone Clock Tower, only to get into my car with the oily fingerprints on the inside doorhandle, brakehandle, and passenger seat. Wonderful! Just wonderful. When I called to report this additional issue and got the laughing Peggy on the line - she would not listen to my issue. I lost my cool - I think I kept it as long as I could but 4+ hours on Sunday, 4+ hours today, and over $350 later, all I have to show for my "flat tire" is an extreme hassle, two new tires that I truly doubt I need, and dirty car upholstery. I called the corporate office and was transferred by Angie Jones to the front office so that I could file a complaint with Consumer Tire Affairs. I was on hold for over 33 minutes before I gave up and disconnected the call. I guess that is the way Firestone treats customers.

I have been a customer at Don’s Auto for 15-20 years. On Dec. 15, my car had a breakdown which required a multi-day, multi-thousand dollar repair. Don could not complete this huge repair before his shop closed for winter break between Christmas and New Year’s. I considered going to another shop, but a friend had agreed to loan me a car, so I Ieft my car at Don’s while he was closed. I anticipated that it would be first-in-line for service when he opened on Jan. 2. Don’s shop was swamped when he reopened on the 2nd and he chose to service other customers ahead of me. On Jan. 8 I had to return the loaned car and get a rental. I sent an email, Don replied and explained his policy: “In the time that removing, dismantling, assembling and reinstalling this engine requires, we could keep 15-20 other cars on the road.” I replied and literally begged Don to work on my car. Don defended his policy but agreed to start work on my car the next day. I should have left it at that, but in my reply I unfortunately used the words “It’s not right” in reference to his prioritizing other customers ahead of me. Don wrote back that he was reassembling my car and I could pick it up to take it to another shop. I drove the 25 miles into town to speak to Don personally, so he could hear my voice when I said that I wasn’t accusing him of being unethical. (Don is very ethical, but I believe he is wrong about the issue of prioritizing and that he has problems with communication.) I even apologized to Don, not because I thought I was wrong, but because I felt sorry for him seeing the state that he was in. He was locked in his own world and determined to show me that he would not deal with a customer who said that he did things that weren’t right. On Jan. 10, after waiting since before Christmas for Don to work on my car, I had my car towed to another shop. Don did not charge me anything.

During this time our company is Out Of Business we tried to contact COX spoke with David COX, Paul COX and Andrew all giving us the run around they started to look at the other bus and said they don't know how to do it but would require us to pay $900 for that bus while we waited 7-months for the part to come in for the hydraulic leak which we had to call every week to get a update none were given from COX. In June 2014 they finally contacted us to say the hydraulic leak is fixed we sent out drivers to grab the bus and had to pay over $5,000 for the hydraulic leak and $900 and have to tow out our bus and they dismantlement all the wiring so we have it in a yard now completely sabotaged buy Cox!
