State Inspection

I've been a regular customer for fuel purchases for many years. For State vehicle inspections I've used someone else for over twenty years, but the owner retired so I decided to try Skymart (formerly known as Raceco). First I checked to see If I could find reviews and this site is one of a few I found. The BBB site gives it and F, they did not return a call to the BBB whenit inquired about a complaint. Several, actually the majority of the reviews/ratings were very poor/low, however there are also some very positive reviews and ratings. I and noticed that many of the poor reviews seemed to involve the service manager and communication. Feeling kind of lazy and not wanting to search to hard for an Inspection Station I decided to use Skymart with caution. First I called and spoke to a the service manager, I confirmed that they were doing inspections and that I would arrive well before their 4pm cut off. I also checked to see how busy and was told they should be able to get me done pretty quickly. When I arrived I parked first and went inside to meet the manager. I asked if she was the person i had spoken with about inspections and she said she was. She told me there was one car ahead of me. She had me fill out a form and in about 20 minutes or so the mechanic came into the waiting room to collect my form. We spoke briefly about my vehicle. He told me the inspection would take about 30 minutes and then he went out and pulled my truck in. About 30 minutes later I was leaving. The service was very good. I did observe that the manager has a very abrupt way of answering questions and responding to customers. I would say that in my case establishing good communication with her and the mechanic was key to a happy conclusion. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars because there was no warm and fussy from the manager, more of a take it or leave it attitude. I can see why there are so many low ratings.

NONE

I called the shop on 11/29/13 and advised them I was having the vehicle towed there and just wanted an estimate to have the ignition switch replaced. I had it towed there that morning. Saturday came around and I hadn't heard from them so I called around noon and was told that it was to be an easy repair and that someone would call me a little later and let me know a price. I never received a call and they were closed Sunday. I called Monday and was given an estimate of $800. $200 of which was the part. $600 for labor?! I told them I would take it elsewhere. I went to pick up the key and get it towed back to my house. I was told I had to pay $89.00 to get my car back. I was shocked. I asked for what because they didn't repair anything, and was told for diagnostics. I called the manager the next day to let her know how unhappy I was because I was never advised of a diagnostic fee and I never signed anything. The manager advised me that the diagnostic fee is "understood." I told her it her and her staffs job and responsibility to advise something like that beforehand. She didn't care and told me again I needed to pay $89 or I wouldn't get my car back. I reluctantly paid it because this is my only car and I have a two year old and a full time job. I walked to the car and tried to just turn it on to hear the radio and nothing happened. It then dawned on me that all the doors were unlocked. The morons at the shop apparently left the back lift gate opened and completely drained the battery. I still have yet to figure out if anything is missing from the vehicle. I will NEVER use this shop again. And I will be sure to spread the story. The shop manager has ZERO integrity. If I could give ZERO stars I would

state inspection

Had the WORST experience today at this location! AWFUL customer service! After I waited TWO hours in line for an inspection, the mechanic came & got the car BEHIND me. I was thinking, "ok, maybe they handle rejected inspection stickers differently (which this other car had), so I waited ANOTHER 30 minutes, while looking at several mechanics just standing around TWO empty service bays! When the mechanic finally got to me, he said "where's your service order?" which I didn't know I needed to get (NO signs anywhere saying I had to get a service order first, just a sign that said "state inspection line forms here"). he told me to find the lady service manager (I use that term "lady" VERY loosely!). when I went to her & told her the mechanic sent me to her, she VERY RUDELY responded "we are not doing inspections anymore", and turned her back to me!! No "I'm sorry", no "we appreciate your waiting, but come back Monday", NOTHING but incredible rudeness! I said nothing else, just went back to my car & told the mechanic I would not be doing business here, I WAS going to be a brand new customer to this shop, as my usual mechanic has retired, but because of this woman's rudeness I was leaving, NEVER coming back, & telling everyone I know not to patronize this business, to which HE replied, "well, she's like that with everyone"! The whole time I'm talking to the mechanic and getting in my car, this AWFUL woman was shouting the inspection procedures at ME, in a nasty tone of voice - AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!! There are too many shops that offer the SAME services, so it comes down to CUSTOMER SERVICE...this "lady" service manager was rude, crude, and INCREDIBLY unprofessional...I will NEVER go back to this place, not even to buy gas!! SHAME on her, and SHAME on her bosses, who let her drive so much business away!!! HORRIBLE customer service!!

purchased gas

I was in the convenient store side paying for gas today and I witnessed who appeared to be the person in charge being mean and talking to another employee with utter disrespect. The employee was in tears explaining that she had taken the iniative to put an order away, she was apologizing for the mix up it caused and offering to pull the items to rectify the situation. All the while the lady in charge kept telling her that she ruined her day. She put a job duty list before the employee and asked her where it says to put away the order. I own my own business and am grateful when my employees take iniative to do things without being told.... I'm sure the job duty list doesn't list good customer service or manners or helpful nature either but funny that it was the employee being yelled at that had to point out to the person in charge that I was and had been waiting at the counter through her yelling. I made the comment that when a new person comes into a business, regardless of experience, that a little patience is needed to make things run smoothly. I was told and I quote " Not in this situation, you don't know what you are talking about". I know the employee is new, Ive been going to this station for years and I do know that I will make a point of stopping in to apologize to this young lady for the disrespect she had to endure, I am going to offer her a job with my company, and it will be the last time I give my money to this company. I hope someone more in charge gets this woman under control before she chases away more business. To the employee...you handled yourself gracefully and respectfully and you would be a great addition to any customer service position.

$36,000 MISTAKE

A $36,000 mistake - RACECO / Sky Mart Service Station, Indian River Road, Va. Beach, VA (Kempsville) - BUYER BEWARE!!!! Monster Clean regularly fills up their trucks with diesel fuel at the Sky Mart / RaceCo station approx. $70 a day - each truck - plus his business vehicle for approximately $3,000 - $4,000 a month ($36,000 - $48,000 annually). My husband, Jim, went to this station for a state inspection station today and had a horrible experience. He was told to wait in line, and park at a line. He parked to the side to give room to other customers. The mechanic came out and went to another car and Jim called out - hey, I'm in line, based on my service ticket, so you have to take me next (State Law = first come, first serve). The mechanic took Jim's car in, then the Service Manager got furious with the mechanic because she thought Jim's car was taken in before a customer parked on the line (who wasn't there and no key in ignition). She sent the mechanic HOME after he got Jim's car on the lift! This was to punish him, we assume. That left one mechanic to take care of four cars. Jim's car was on the lift for FOUR HOURS. The remaining mechanic went up and down the line checking one portion of the state inspection on each car, then checked the other cars for the next piece of the state inspection. Incredibly non-productive and time-wasting. He took a wheel off the back right hand corner of Jim's car, BROKE THE LUG NUT, and then FAILED the inspection for the LUG NUT THEY BROKE, ONE windshield wiper (not both, just ONE!), fuzzy headlights (OK), and two signal lights in front (OK). GEEZ - they could have fixed these little issues quickly (less than an hour!) The # of hours estimated to FIX these problems were incredible - FIVE hours on the failure ticket - at close to $18.00 - $20.00 per hour. (REALLY??? $100 to fix 20 minutes of issues?) Jim was livid when he got home. He said he could NOT believe the amount of money he spends at RACECO / SKYMART for YEA
