Tire Repair (7 AM - 9 AM Drop-in ONLY)

While on vacation in the San Juan islands we developed a problem with a wheel. The big tire store chain where we bought the tires looked at the car and said they could not identify the problem and it was out of their range of service. We called several of the Subaru dealerships in Seattle but they had no appointments available. The next morning we called this service shop at 7:30 am. Howard said to bring it in and they would triage it for us. WHAT A RELIEF those words were to us. They had us repaired and out of the shop by 11:30 that morning. We felt so lucky to have found this shop. Turned out it was the big tire store that had caused the problem to begin with. They cross threaded two of our lug nuts and three others had not been tightened. A big THANK YOU to SUBURB SERVICE. You people were the greatest!

Suburb Service is a great shop and well run. For me it beats the much higher cost dealer service by a lot. I’ve always had great, personalized service. Most recently I had my rear brakes replaced on an ‘11 Outback. Great job overall. The brake hats turned out to appear rusty from the outside after the service, a cosmetic problem only, and the owner made it right by removing the rust and painting them afterwards. While it was a little confusing why the brake parts (they use top shelf parts that a Subaru dealer would use) had this issue, they made it right, which was the important thing. Loaners at no extra charge, Keurig cups in the waiting area - so good amenities. Also I like that they have “oil change hours” - 7-9 AM daily when you can drop-in and wait for minor jobs like oil changes. I highly recommend the shop.

Everything was great. Only reason for the 4 stars was because they forgot to reprogram the auto up/down of the driver-side window after disconnecting the battery. They were very apologetic and fast to fix the error, but I did have to return to the shop the next day which was a bit of an inconvenience.

My car seemed noticeably quieter after the service, was running fine, still running fine. Took a trip up to Fir Island to check on an observable Eagle nest, left a bit before 4AM, light traffic on I5, all traffic moving at about 10 mph faster than speed limit, even semis, so only an hour to get there. Car handled well as always. That pull to the right, only noticed one slight instance, possible cause, slope of pavement. Sue

Subaru Repair

The Subaru Dealer charged me $119+ tax to diagnose why my Sunroof wouldn't open completely or close tight. They then told me it was a tight cable and the track was bent and I needed a new sunroof $2,050.00 ($1400.00 in parts and 6 hours labor!). My boyfriend thought that was outrageous and called Suburb Service and talked to Candy. She said there was s Subaru Service Bulletin (and emailed the copy to him) for a known problem with the sunroof, and said bring the car by and they would take a look to see if that was the problem. In 10 minutes, Neil got the the sunroof opening and closing, and suggested taking it to a body shop (The service bulletin required making an adjustment with a hammer) and gave me the name of and had sent other customers to with this same problem. Suburb Service ARE HONEST and TRUSTWORTHY. They took the time to explain to me the problem and how to fix it. They saved me $2,050 the dealer was going to charge me to replace a sunroof that WORKED and only needed an adjustment! THANK YOU SO MUCH SUBURB SERVICE!!!! Sue D. Bothell, WA
