Auto repair service near Robertsdale, AL

DO NOT TRUST THEM! Several years ago the Pep Boys was a great place to go for service. Recently, the management has changed and the focus is obviously on the up-sell. Last week I took my car in for an oil change and tire repair (nail in tire). Three hours later I received a call that the tire could not be repaired and I would need to purchase a new tire ($150+). After I explained that I purchased the tire there and had hazard coverage the manager Kyle replied "Oh I didn't notice." Well it's a good thing I KNEW what I had purchases. Once he checked the computer the cost of the tire dropped to $55. Kyle then informed me that I need a special engine treatment or the car's engine would be damaged during the upcoming cold weather. I explained to Kyle that my finances were limited and he stated that the cost would be $49.00. I asked for more information because I was afraid I was being taken advantage of and after Kyle's explanation I felt that it was a vital service. I said to Kyle "With the tire at $55 and the engine service at $49, my total cost will remain around $100 so I guess I better get the engine taken care of too." When I arrived to pick up the car, Al was very nice and explained that the Engine service was $99, but I explained that Kyle said it was $49. Al called Kyle as Kyle had conveniently left for the day. When Al finished his phone call he stated that Kyle said it was $99. Knowing it was not Al's fault I simply paid my bill which now was nearing $200! Upon arriving home BROKE and disheartened by the downturn in service and management at a place I use to rely on, I told the story to my son. My son (who typically drives this car) went out to the car and came back with a receipt from 3 months ago showing the car had a complete engine inspection and service from Mazda (including a computer report on the engine). I now know NOT to trust Kyle and my local Pep Boys! Sadly, a place I've used since it opened is now off the list of trusted places. Just another stereotypical, take advantage of people repair shop.

this is the fourth time in the last year on so to fix, the remote "start system". headed back today for the same issue, On one occasion, auto was in the garage and would not start, call tow truck, dealership informed the driver to drag it out so it could be loaded, informed the service manager passed this on. It's a good thing that the vehicle is still under warranty.

My door locks have been repaired at least ten times they work for a week or two, this has been going on since I bought the car a Volvo S 60 in 2013. The Service advisor is unfriendly, does not answer the phone and don’t return call’s and lately I had to argue about paying for the repair
