Self diagnosing on web searches led me to expect a more costly repair. I initially set up my appointment stating what I thought was wrong with my car. After a short wait, I was told that I have cheap, noisy brakes! Thank you Greg and your staff for having the knowledge and integrity to fix the issue and not take advantage of me. As long as this shop is open, I will continue to drive well out of my way for all repairs and services.

I went to pick up a Uhaul trailer, and my truck did not work the lights. The owner worked on my truck, found the problem and fixed it. I tried to pay him and he would not accept any money. I have to say he was very polite and now I will not go any place else for my service.

This is the first time I personally used Carnovale Car Care for my Maserati. I was referred by a friend who has been very pleased with their service. The experience felt very personal; I did not feel like a job ticket #. From the owner, to the owner's father, to the office gal Debbie, and to the mechanics (especially Dennis), the experience was everything one could ask for. I am a person who likes to know everything about my car so that I can anticipate or prevent future problems, and they took as long as necessary -- even going above and beyond -- to educate me on how things worked. I am not a person who writes many reviews but, in Carnovale’s case, I would feel remiss if I did not take the time to share my noteworthy experience.

I called this company to get an estimate for an oil change for my 1991 Mercedes 350 SD Turbo Diesel. The person I spoke to representing this company said they could do the work and an appointment was set and the work was completed. My son noticed the receipt said Castrol GTX 20/50. He did not believe the correct oil was used for my Mercedes diesel engine. My son instructed me to return to the shop and look at the API rating on the label. He said “S” rated oil is used for gas engines and “C” rated oils are used for diesel engines. I spoke to Mickey who was very kind and assured me the correct oil was used but I noted the API label said “SN”. My son was not satisfied and went to the shop to specifically look at the label on the drum of oil. Mickey Jr. showed him the drum, my son verified the API rating was "SN" (Castrol 20W-50) (it did not say diesel). In further discussion Mickey Jr. said he could order “the correct oil for my car but it would cost extra”. My son told Mickey Jr. we have lost confidence in the work this company performed and wanted a refund so I could take my car elsewhere to get the proper oil change. The request for a refund was denied. Mickey Jr. spoke to an elder gentleman. This person asked my son what seems to be the problem. When my son tried to discuss his concern, this person said “that oil is the same oil we have used on every diesel engine that enters this shop”. My son made a comment that this shop is using the wrong oil in diesel engines. What was more shocking is this person said “who made you the f-ing expert”. My son replied he was not an expert but stated the API classification codes that are explained on the internet “C” vs “S”. He also brought up the API ratings listed on the back of oil, specific to diesel engines, are “C” ratings. The elder gentleman told my son to “get the h*** out of his shop” and walked away. The Midas location on 4th Street North and East Bay Drive in Clearwater are franchise locations operated by Adam Ford. These 2 locations were great while they were managed by Midas Corporate offices headquarted in Illinois. We were customers there at the time. Then, all went downhill when they were turned over as franchise operations, managed by Adam Ford who brought his swindling business ethics from .... the other side of the pond. The 4th street shop replaced a clutch master cylinder in May 2013 on our Chevrolet. It failed 10,000 miles later in July 2014. Under the terms of the warranty, they replaced it free of charge, again with an "after-market" part and not original equipment. The part failed also 10,000 later in May 2015. Guess what? It failed again in May 2015. We contacted them for a THIRD resolution. Keep in mind, their incompetence is now dragging on for 2 years ....They kept the vehicle overnight and said they had flushed the hydraulic clutch system and so, it should be good ...But it's not good, the clutch pedal is unresponsive... . I think 2 years and 3 separate opportunities to diagnose and install reliable equipment is ample time to decide on a Auto Repair Shop's competence, honesty and business ethics, don't you? By the way, we have taken our chevrolet to 2 other shop for evaluation and they recommended to only install Chevrolet original clutch master cylinder because after market parts don't last. Hum.... seems no one at Midas could figure that out and suggest this .....

DO NOT GO HERE. They ripped my father off for the $1,430 they charged him for air conditioning repair. THEY DID NOT DO THE WORK. The new parts were not installed. They didn’t even loosen a screw. LIARS AND THIEVES!
