Too expensive to do inspection, troubleshooting & fix on our 1992 Toy Camry

I took my car in for an oil change, brake pads & rotors & a general check, as I purchased it less than 3 mo. ago but seems to be great. I spoke with Tanner, who was very friendly & thorough. Tanner called & MY understanding was: I was looking at $175 for brakes & checking out the car, he also informed me at this time, the car needed $8500- $9000 work to be "safe" and ok to which I declined, as the car is a 2004 Camry with 200,000+ miles. I picked the car up paying $275 00 and to my dismay; I paid $75.00 for an oil change alone - ridiculous! And the $275.00 DIDN'T get any brake work done at all!!! $200 to look over the car? ABSURD! So, I basically paid $275.00 for a freakin oil change! He said they couldn't do the brakes for under $1,400.00!!! BS!! I worked in 2 dealerships for 10+ years and have NEVER heard of such a thing. More than a $1000.00 for brakes on a $2,200.00 car??? INSANE & INSULTING! I won't be recommending you to anyone and hope I can save 1 victim from being taken advantage of, and of paying $275.00 for an oil change! Donna A. Simpson

Took it in cause i didnt have time to do the brake work. I knew whst i wanted done. New brake drums, shoes, hardware, and the wheel cylinder thst was leaking. Wanted both sides done. They wanted to do an inspection on the vehicle first, which i slready knew what it needed and what i wsnted done. They came back with a cost of $1900. They dont give an hourly rate. Well parts are only $250 and even "premium" parts that they say they use wouldnt be more than $400. I would like to know what they consider premium parts? I consider ford motorcraft the only thatcan be called premium in this situation. A brake job what i wanted done is only a 3hr job. This is a 750 job not including the $180 for an inspection that i didnt need or want. The psrts you ger at lets say oriellys will usually come with a lifetime warranty also. So i will be making time to do the work myself in the next week or two and saving myself $1500. I feel for the people that are at a mechanics mercy and not educated on their vehicle and have to pay more than what they need to. I will give them this for the 2stars. Theyre friendly, and get it in fairly qwikly.

Got quoted $1600 to put new brakes on an escape. Ridiculously high price. Took it somewhere else, got it done for less than half.

Took my car in to get fixed. Was charged a diagnostic fee for the system. They came up with the thermostat. They fixed. But ignored my request to check the AC not working. Took back in and was charged for another diagnostic check. Came up with heater core and another part. Quoted 3400. Found someone just over 1000. I should have never been charged for the second diagnostic check. They failed the first time. Never again. I would zero stars.

Very unhappy with the service I paid for. The service was not fulfilled. I had to return my vehicle for the service to be completed correctly. Even though honest wrench towed my truck it out a burden on my work schedule the following day This was completely unacceptable as the service should have been inspected.

Unless my recent service repair (keys) can be addressed via refund I’m probably done with Honest Wrenches. Brought my car here twice, the first time there was a parts issue to repair an air conditioner and you kept my car for nearly five full days waiting on a part. I had to borrow cars and/or Uber the entire time. Communication was great so I figured I’d try you again if I had another issue in the future. The second time (just this week) I had a key issue. When I called in I was told it would be no problem to repair. Turns out it was a problem you couldn’t repair, you couldn’t fix it, AND I was required to pay you over $200 to diagnose that you couldn’t fix it. So I just paid $200 to NOT fix my car. I’d be happy to discuss a refund, which would keep my business at Honest Wrenches in the future. Otherwise, there are a lot of other garages in town.

Was pleased with with availability and communication. But they charged $200+ for diagnostic then let me know that they heard a noise that may require an additional $200 diagnostic..$400 before any with is done? Ended up spending $600 for headlight replacement and filter change. Seemed overpriced, probably wouldn’t use again.

Been a long time customer with our 4 cars, but recent $400+ battery install (per JD) has me looking at other options.

Dirty, greasy grimy finger marks left above drivers visor and left front door frame… cannot recommend them to friends or neighbors…. And am convinced their personnel does not care.
