I brought a car in for a fuel tank leak and did not specify a budget. Weeks go by and I finally call and get someone on the phone. They inform me the repair won't be pretty because it's an old michigan car and suggests a patch job. I would like the repair but if a patch gets me back on the road then cool. Nope. 2 months later I finally get someone on the phone who tells my they "aren't gonna be able" to fix my car. I flatbed it home and fine no attempt at either the repair or the patch job they suggested themselves. 0 stars. Fecken 0.

Chapman Automotive got me in sooner than most automotive shops in the greater Kalamazoo area, by 2 weeks! I was trying to beat the cold weather and get my entire driveline serviced, belts and seals looked over too. I was given an estimate that was much lower than other shops gave me, and I took the leap. I was overly impressed by the speed of getting my vehicle in, the cost of total repairs and the way the owner, John Chapman’s, demeanor was. He spoke with respect, familiarity and was kind. He stood back his work, something you don’t always see, with a long warranty on parts and national coverage warranties that I could use if I traveled and had car troubles. Definitely will return!

Lentz USA Automotive Service Center

We needed new brakes on the Caravan and took it to LENTZ after getting really high estimates. They looked at it and suggested what should be replaced. They took time to actually let me look at it and told me what it would cost. I was out of there in less than 2 hours. Good job and good price

Son attends WMU and we live out of state and unfamiliar with honest mechanics in area. After reading previous reviews, we entrusted Lowders, and had car towed there. They were prompt, courteous, honest, and reasonable and fixed the problem. Highly recommend their services if you are looking for an honest mechanic to bring your auto to.

I had this shop replace a wheel bearing on a Toyota pick up, they charged me 500.00. 20,000 miles later it failed, so I brought it back. They fixed it AGAIN and charged me another $500.00. The second time they worked on it, they said the axle was "worn out". Anyone with any mechanical sense knows that solid rear axles don't "wear out", bearings do though. I believe there may have been an issue with the axle when they worked on it the first time but instead they ignored it and put it back together. The second time they worked on it, I sourced an axle and they installed the wheel bearings. 15,000 miles later the same wheel bearing went bad AGAIN. This tells me that they screwed it up again. I went and bought all the equipment needed and just did the job myself, something that is obviously above their skill level. the following link is a Youtube video that shows how a wheel bearing is done on a Toyota pick up, perhaps they can watch it and get some training and do the job right someday for someone else. https://youtu.be/AVhSDnw2ugo

Muffler Man

913 Riverview Drive, Kalamazoo

Last summer repair was made to one of my vehicles, and the very next day, the piece that they welded broke. I was very upset, but I ended up selling the vehicle and did not have time to bring it back into them. This fall a different vehicle was getting loud, and so I decided that I would give them another chance. Dumb move on my part. When putting my car on the lift, they damaged my vehicle. They mad a repair to the vehicles muffler. Well the noise and vibrations were better but still bad, and they continued to worsen each week. Not only was the muffler still loud and growing louder, but now it also started to leak. They refused to look at it. I took it to another shop who informed me that the welds done by Muffler Man were done improperly and leak. I was not surprised to say the least. I will never be back to this location and deeply regret ever darkening their door in the first place.

Sparkle Buggy Car Wash

3915 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo

I was very disappointed in the quality of the car wash that I have just had done today, Aug. 8, 2012. The attendent was well versed on the "up-sell" for more services, which I didn't care for. With that, he sprayed the windshield, pushed the start button, casually walked and sprayed the front and the remainder of the car as it moved ahead. At exit, I parked the car do dry it off, it hasn't been getting dry in the last couple of visits. Upon drying the front end area, it is still plastered with bugs. Not just a few but even back onto the hood! I finished drying the car and went back to the entry to ask the attendent why? He said, "I really don't know." With that I left and thought I would contact you personally. He didn't spend enough effort at the prewash to get the job done. I even know that. A definite problem for you. I won't be returning for a wash on any of my vehicles because your quality has diminished to the point there is no value left!

On this site for another reason, but see no one has written a review for the best auto repair shop in Kzoo. Have been their customer for over 30 years (moved out of town 10 years ago). When I was poor, they kept my car running, i.e. I could get another 500 miles from the brakes, etc. Then as I could afford later, they fixed everything I needed, quickly, efficiently. Not once did I feel they recommended something I didn't really need, we had a great relationship. This is a great shop with great people doing the work. I got to know the owners personally and just wish Kalamazoo was a little closer to Haslett, Mi, where I live now. I would gladly drive 50 miles to have them do my work. You can't go wrong taking your car here, they will treat it as though they were the owner. Marge McM
