I have been to this shop several times with two different vehicles. A 99 Nissan Pathfinder and a 92 Ford F150. The employees here are professional and always happy to explain anything you need them to. They have always been upfront about cost, and they are won't try to force you into work you don't need. People who are worried that they will get up sold on something they do not need should have no fear with this place. They do their best to get the work done quickly as not to leave you without your vehicle long. Obviously this varies based on what you are having done, but like the issue with price, they will let you know ahead of time so that you can plan accordingly. The longest I went was one week, but I was having a laundry list of stuff done to the F150. It is a family truck that sat for years without use. If issues arise during your cars stay they will inform you promptly. I have never left this place unsatisfied, and have made it a point to refer friends, family, and co-workers when they are having car troubles. Jordan M. Knoxville, TN

Rusty Wallace Newport Ford

Call me gullible. The 21st of February I took my 1998 Mercury Sable in because it had a slight shudder when accelerating in low gear and a squeak in the front. I figured it was my transmission, after all my car had appx. 175,000 miles on it. We had shopped around for a good used car and just could not afford one with the economy in the shape it's in. Any way we took it in. They assured me it wasn't the transmission, but needed new hoses, a belt, spark plug wires etc. because everything under the hood was factory except the spark plugs which we had replaced around 80,000 and the belt which we had replaced around 70,000. The bad news was the whole front end was out. Struts, ball joints, everything had to be replaced to the tune of $2,689.04. Crazy for that old of a car right. Well, the mechanic assured us it would be like a new car from front to back. He was sure that was all it needed. Since we couldn't afford a new car we went for it. Duh! When I got it home it was doing the same thing I took it in for plus my brake peddle is going to the floor sometimes. I never had any brake issues. So we took it back. When I got my car today they charged me $87.51 to tell me I need a transmission, a power steering pump, which I couldn't tell anything was wrong with, and an ABS sensor. What will be my total charge $2469.33. I would be stupid to put that much into a car that old. Moral of the story, when Rusty Wallace Ford mechanics tell you that they are sure that the work they will do will fix your car, they aren't. It may come back in worse shape like mine did. One things for sure I have a nice body with sound suspension it's just that it's not safe to drive! Beware!!!!

They really treat you like family!!! Fair and honest. Went out of their way to help us by providing roadside assistance and trying to get us on our way. They even let us hookup to water and power and stay in the RV at their shop while they made the repairs (and fed us supper). After we were on the road and had more mechanical breakdowns, they coached us via phone until we made it to our destination. I highly recommend this family owned business. They took a true interest in our safety and travel plans. Thank you so much to all the staff at Vickers!!

Went in to troubleshoot a hop in the rear axle. Their people said the assembly was in need of a rebuild. This repair took two weeks after making a deposit on parts. Total cost was over $3500. In driving the vehicle after the repair was complete, a noise appeared which wasn’t there before. After reporting this to the them, I was told it was normal and it would go away. Never having heard of this condition after a differential rebuild, I thought it may be a vehicle specific normality. In contacting the manufacturer of the gear set, it was revealed that this in fact was not normal and the new gear set was destroyed as a result of improper installation. Their management informed me that they were too busy to look at it at the time. After several weeks, I was able to get an appointment to have them check the assembly. The vehicle sat at their shop for 3 weeks before I was able to get anyone from Ace transmission to answer their phone or return a call. I was then informed that they couldn’t fix it and that 26% of the total cost would be refunded. 2 weeks later the vehicle was recovered from their shop still not repaired. This “repair shop” effectively deprived me of my vehicle for the nearly the entire summer, cost me hundreds of dollars in alternate transportation on top of the $3500+ repair bill, and the vehicle still isn’t fixed. I found out too late that I wasn’t by any means the first victim. Someone I randomly met (yes, randomly met) on a job site described a similar issue with Ace transmission. After they get your money, you’re on your own. If you value your money, the safe repair of your vehicle, and your time, don’t go here.
