I have been to this shop several times with two different vehicles. A 99 Nissan Pathfinder and a 92 Ford F150. The employees here are professional and always happy to explain anything you need them to. They have always been upfront about cost, and they are won't try to force you into work you don't need. People who are worried that they will get up sold on something they do not need should have no fear with this place. They do their best to get the work done quickly as not to leave you without your vehicle long. Obviously this varies based on what you are having done, but like the issue with price, they will let you know ahead of time so that you can plan accordingly. The longest I went was one week, but I was having a laundry list of stuff done to the F150. It is a family truck that sat for years without use. If issues arise during your cars stay they will inform you promptly. I have never left this place unsatisfied, and have made it a point to refer friends, family, and co-workers when they are having car troubles. Jordan M. Knoxville, TN

5 stars!!!!! I was so pleased that my 19 year old daughter immediately knew were to go when having car trouble. Dennis Hall's Auto Service took care of her as a lady in distress: Russell was quick, polite, attentive, thorough and comforting. As my daughter knew from my previous experience there, she got the needed service efficiently AND at a fair price. Thank you for treating my family, well...like family! Review for BRAKE WORK: Excellent customer service, both on the phone and in person. This is a long-time FAMILY business, and on my arrival I was greeted by a very friendly and sweet young lady who turned out to be the OWNER's grand-daughter. BTW guys, she was beautiful too, could be Scarlett Johannsen's twin sister! A doll. Anyway, I met with the manager Robert, who immediately DROVE my car around the block for his personal diagnosis of the problem. Then they put my car up on a rack for another mechanic to confirm Robert's diagnosis. Importantly - THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR INSPECTION! After they looked at it Robert explained what needed to be done: new brake pads, new rotors (I agreed, knew they were wharped, I could feel the shake and shimmy). Gave me an estimated total cost including tax, and THEN LET ME DECIDE. No pressure, just honest evaluation and information. I appreciated that greatly. Price was fair, work was done quickly, and the service was great. I HIGHLY recommend this business, which is also rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau.

I'm new to Knoxville so I found Christian Brothers thru Yelp. And like most people had a great experience. I have a 20 year Toyota Corolla and has never need any repairs until now. Keith was great, I thought the front Toyota emblem was lost during the stay at the shop and Keith immediately offered to call Toyota to get a price and help with that!

Had brakes done awhile ago and got the warranty on the pads. Now i need new pads so i took it in to budget brakes just to learn (or be told) i needed my rotors machined. And the total for it all to be done was about close to $180.00 to $200.00. Well i told them i didnt want to do the rotors n they said they cant honor the warranty fir the pads unless they machine or replace the rotors. I wasnt aware that i get new pads with warranty just to still end up having to spend more then what it cost to have the pads put on the first time. Whats the point of the warranty if i still have to spend lots of money for something i cant use unless other services is going to be needed done that would cost more money then just having new pads put on. I ended up just going to auto zone and buying “NEW ROTORS” and “NEW PADS” for $111.00. A lot cheaper then what budget brake seems to try to scam me out of. Bottom line is they warranty seems to be a scam

Went in to troubleshoot a hop in the rear axle. Their people said the assembly was in need of a rebuild. This repair took two weeks after making a deposit on parts. Total cost was over $3500. In driving the vehicle after the repair was complete, a noise appeared which wasn’t there before. After reporting this to the them, I was told it was normal and it would go away. Never having heard of this condition after a differential rebuild, I thought it may be a vehicle specific normality. In contacting the manufacturer of the gear set, it was revealed that this in fact was not normal and the new gear set was destroyed as a result of improper installation. Their management informed me that they were too busy to look at it at the time. After several weeks, I was able to get an appointment to have them check the assembly. The vehicle sat at their shop for 3 weeks before I was able to get anyone from Ace transmission to answer their phone or return a call. I was then informed that they couldn’t fix it and that 26% of the total cost would be refunded. 2 weeks later the vehicle was recovered from their shop still not repaired. This “repair shop” effectively deprived me of my vehicle for the nearly the entire summer, cost me hundreds of dollars in alternate transportation on top of the $3500+ repair bill, and the vehicle still isn’t fixed. I found out too late that I wasn’t by any means the first victim. Someone I randomly met (yes, randomly met) on a job site described a similar issue with Ace transmission. After they get your money, you’re on your own. If you value your money, the safe repair of your vehicle, and your time, don’t go here.

Firestone Complete Auto Care

5601 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

On 4/28/2017 I took my husband’s 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 to this location to have a simple oil change performed, in preparation for a camping trip to the beach with our children.  On 4/30/2017, only 160 miles after the oil change, the truck motor blew up, resulting in a $24,000 motor replacement and a lost vacation as we had no additional means to pull our camper.  As an Insurance Agent I knew that I needed to document everything, so I took many photos at the scene documenting the loss of oil, the hole in the side of the motor, and we even took an oil sample from the truck.  The next morning we reluctantly agreed to have the truck towed back to this location for diagnosis, and to no one’s surprise Vance (the manager) determined that the motor blowing up was not caused by their oil change.  When we picked the truck up all of the evidence of massive oil loss had been cleaned up, and the oil plug now had a yellow chalk circle around it, all of which did not compare to the photos of the areas prior to the truck being towed back to them.  At this point, when I pointed out that the photos did not match I was offered half of the replacement as a settlement ($11,9XX) from Firestone, which I denied because the incident was not 1/2 my fault so I should not be responsible for 1/2 of the damage.  Firestone stated that they were offering me this $11,9XX settlement not as accepting fault, but as a "customer satisfaction" or "good will."  WOW, that's quite a large settlement to offer if you were 100% sure that this was not your fault, ALSO keep in mind that we also had the oil analysis which stated that the "viscosity of the oil was too low."  Finally, after much despair and aggravation I decided to file the claim on the vehicle insurance.  A full motor tear down was performed by a certified diesel mechanic and the adjuster agreed along with the diesel mechanic that there was absolutely NO doubt that the issue was in fact caused by oil as ALL 6 CRANK BEARINGS were shot along with the main being chewed up.  Insurance paid nearly $28,000 total and regained that money from Firestone.  Now, keep in mind that we were without our camper tow vehicle, boat tow vehicle, and my husband uses his truck for work for 98 days!  Not to mention the countless hours, unreturned emails, calls and stress that we dealt with on this.  We attempted to trade the vehicle, as you can imagine we just want away from this entire situation, and were told by the local Dodge dealer that the truck had depreciated by $9,900. We asked Firestone for the depreciation, along with the loss of use for 98 days on the vehicle and although they accepted fault on the motor repair they have denied paying the additional costs.  I would strongly suggest reading other reviews of Firestone prior to using this, or any location for anything even as small as an oil change.  I drove 45 minutes to use this location, due to a long history of dealing with them and we were treated horribly by them, and their corporate claims office throughout this entire process.  Had I not had the knowledge to keep pushing, we would have paid the motor replacement out of pocket.

Halls Service Center

3725 Cunningham Rd, Knoxville

Halls Service Center has lost my business. I went to Halls Service Center and asked them to check only the code from the car's computer, a job that takes literally less than ten seconds. Places like Firestone do it for free. But when I came to pick up my car, they wanted to charge me ninety dollars because they had done a full diagnostic scan on the engine including a test drive. When I explained that I had asked for only a code check, I was told that they don't do just a code check, only a full diagnosis. If that's true, then they should have told me at the beginning instead of charging me for a service that I did not request. I tried to get things worked out with a manager, but before even listening he told me that he wouldn't consider waiving the fee because he was already convinced that his garage was in the right. The man at the counter claimed that I never said that I only wanted the codes checked, and the manager said that the mistake was 100% my fault because I hadn't double checked about what was written on the order or asked about the price. He was right--it certainly was my mistake to trust Halls Service Center to perform only the services that I asked for and to trust that they would charge me a fair price for it. My conversation with the manager was calm and outwardly polite, but he ended up implying that I was just too cheap to take care of my car the way I ought, and the guy at the counter made it clear that he thought that I was lying and trying to cheat them. Eventually, the manager threatened to lock up my vehicle and start charging a $25 a day storage fee if I didn't pay up, which I eventually was forced to do. Even though I have used Halls Service Center several times before, I'm not going to take my business to a place that doesn't have a problem with a customer leaving feeling like he's had money twisted out of his hand.

followed up with owner as a result of an encounter he had today with my son who parked in the wrong lot. A note was left on our windshield, and the owner proceeded to express their anger and displeasure by physically pressing his chest into my son, holding the car door closed and then standing in front of the car as to attempt to not allow him to leave the lot. The assistant manager had to come out to encourage the owner to stop the aggressive behavior. My son called the police who followed up. When I went to follow up with the owner to determine the facts and a possible resolution I found the owners responses and insults consistent with someone who made a mistake and didn't want to admit it. This tells me and others alot about the owner and the business he expects people to patron. My advice is to consider other shops like CBA Christian Brothers Automotive a few doors down on Kingston Pike. I have done business there several times and your treated with professionalism and respect. Choices have consequences and since I was treated with the same behavior as my son was I felt compelled to review. Try CBA Christian Brothers Auto you'll have better results with less drama.
