Auto repair service near Lolo, MT

I had been a customer of Big Sky Auto for the past 4 yrs and even though I had my suspicions it was finally confirmed to me just how shady a business owner this really is. I had bought 2 different vehicles from Steve and thought I was not only getting a good deal but that I would have someone looking after my investment and future life of my vehicles. As of this week I had a rude awakening when I took my Jeep into Big Sky Auto to only find out what a particular noise was. I made it clear on dropping my Jeep off that I ONLY wanted to know what it was and that I did not have the money to fix my Jeep at this point in time. I was told I would get a phone call when there was knowledge of what the issue(s) was. I was given a loaner car (which I didn't ask for and didn't need) and during the course of the weekend decided to buy a new car from a dealer. I still had NOT received a phone call by the end of the following Tuesday and when I dropped of the loaner car (which had only been sitting at my house since Saturday) at Big Sky Auto I received a surprised look that I was not only there but didn't need the loaner car. Steve then proceeds to tell me that he FIXED my Jeep without me knowing what the problem was or my consent to fix it. I had NO say so on what the issue was or if I wanted to fix it. He proceeds to show me parts he seemingly replaced telling me it was rod bearings in my engine! So he ripped apart my engine and replaced rod bearings and put everything back together and said its running in 4 days time when he was closed on Sunday. He also said there was more to do on the Jeep. I not only told him I never authorized any such repair and I couldn't afford these repairs. This isn't the first time he has "fixed" my jeep and charged me huge chunks of money for the repair and giving me the all noble "I can't let you drive this around because its unsafe bit". To a mother with children, that is a scary statement! So, I paid the money that could have gone for other things. NOW I am dealing with this again! I went and picked up my Jeep last night and low and behold the SAME noise I took it in for was still there. He lied to me and NEVER did a gosh darn thing to it. I do know that to replace rod bearings you need to redo the entire engine and that can take a month! Not to mention doing diagnostic tests to see how bad the damage is. If I can stop ONE female or any single mother from buying or having "repairs" done to their vehicles by this shady business owner then I am willing to give testimony to how I have been ripped off!!!!!!!! Steve gets cars at auctions that real dealerships pawn off because they are such a mess they wont even touch them. So, Steve buys them and fixes them just enough to run so that he can get them back in his shop to keep making money off of them! Do NOT buy into his noble, I am doing you a favor act!!!!!! And that he is LOOKING OUT for you! He is only looking out for himself and will stoop so low as to lie to your face! Through all of this, I NEVER got an I am sorry I overstepped my bounds in fixing your Jeep without your permission. I know for a fact I would have NEVER been treated this way if I were a man!!!!!!! So, ladies..........please DO NOT do business with this owner. You will be in for a whole world of hurt and an empty wallet and a half assed vehicle if you do!!!!!!!!

I feel that time was taken to do the inspection; however, the estimate and amount of work suggested far exceeded a previous inspection from another inspection that was done. The first inspection's total cost was $1778 versus Transolution's $4,300 plus. While Transolution revised the work needed to an estimate of $3,000 plus, the cost was too exorbitant for me. Shortly after getting the vehicle home, I drove it and the brakes went out on me near Les Schwab on Broadway. So, I had them inspect the brakes, which were noted on Transloution's estimate of needing repair to the tune of $700 plus, and all that needed repairing was a leaky valve for $112. I feel that I was being duped by Transolution into thinking this and that needed to be repaired. I will not be using them now or in the future.

I came in on Friday, for tires, courteous enough sales person, well informed about the tires on stock, had free rotations, and free flat repair BUT, NOT OPEN ON SATURDAY, so I went to Les Schwab, They have all of the above, and are open on Saturday, some people only have Saturdays to have tires repaired, or buy.

This business is now in Stevensville (same phone number) and named "M&M Auto&Welding Trailer Sales"; his demeanor is still as poor, and for some one who claims "I've been in business 26 years, and I know what I'm doing", he couldn't even fix a simple wiring harness on my "throw away trailer" (his words ~ who says this to a customer bringing money?!). He said he could fix it, even volunteered to do more than I asked, and I was okay with that, and a month later he hadn't even touched the trailer. He told me he wouldn't work on it and to come get it. He cussed me out and told me to take my business elsewhere.

stopped in to talk about rebuilding the motor in my car and turbocharging it.. the only thing these guys are willing to do is suggest buying a crate motor or a worn out stock turbo motor to jerry rig into the car.. I wouldn't trust these guys to work on a moped let alone my tuner car
