I was there for my PA State inspection today. Their business practice hasn't changed in the many years I've been going there. They only do the work that is required. I trust Karen and Mark since they don't use gimmicks or promotions to get you in then try to convince you to have unnecessary work done like some of the chains are noted for. While waiting for my inspection to be completed they treated other customers that came in or called with the same honest attitude. I worked and lived in Erie all of my life and will continue to do business there with all of my vehicles. They are local honest people that don't have to meet quotas of the major chains, so you only pay for what you really need.

Bobs Service and Sales

5.0(1)
1001 East Ave, Erie

I purchased a 2002 Saturn LS from Bob, and I had that car for 5 and a half years until it finally quit. Very happy- Bob's a retired cop, so I knew I could trust him. But Bob sold the property, and moved down to East 12th St. He still sells cars, but no more mechanic work. If you need a reliable vehicle without the high pressure song and dance, Bob's is the place to go!

Not good! It took over a week for them to look at my car at the Harborcreek location and then the staff was rude and uninformative. An employee actually stated they "were not making any money on me." They were, but obviously not enough.

2615 Peach Street, Erie

Apex Auto Service doesn't offer ferns, cushy chairs or free coffee, but those things don't guarantee that your mechanic is capable and honest. Scott has been my go-to mechanic for years, and everytime I leave the shop I know that he has fixed what was broke and nothing else. Even bigger jobs are fairly and reasonably priced.

Dave Hallman Chevrolet

1.0(1)
2002 French Street, Erie

First they committed fraud when I Traded in my used (ripped me off) vehicle then robbery when I bought a used vehicle and fraud as well. There was mold in my owners manual and the car had 2 fix a flats on 1 tire.

Conway and OMalley Inc

1.0(1)
905 Pittsburgh Avenue, Erie

While I am not faulting the actual work done on my car, I seriously fault Conway and O'Malley on the fairness of their prices. Grossly overcharged for the, I hesitate to say work, done on my car. The bolt rusted out which holds the battery tight in place. It is easily accessible once you pop the hood and shouldn't have taken more than 10-15 minutes max to fix. The mechanic and the service people at the front told me to my face that it took half an hour to "drill and tap out" the screw and replace it with a new one and so I was charged $39 for the fix. When I said that I doubted it would take that long, the man replied, "Well I can fail your car and you can get it fixed someplace else." With poor customer service and I feel, outrageous prices, I will be looking for a new place to take my car and will mention to others to go someplace else. Just because I am unable to do the work myself does not mean I am a moron.

Bomar Auto Repair

3410 W 26th St, Erie

In April 2010 Bomar indicated that my 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier needed to have its exhaust system replaced. I agreed to let them repair my car. The cost of the exhaust system replacement was approximately $1,000. Approximately 2 years later when I brought my car to Bomar for inspection, it indicated that I needed my muffler replaced. I was surprised by this since it was 'supposedly' replaced 2 years before. However, I allowed them to replace it. In November 2012 (6 months after the muffler was replaced and my car was inspected), the muffler separated from the exhaust pipe in front of it. The pipe was rusted through to the point that it is hard to believe that it passed inspection 6 months prior. I allowed them to replace it at a cost of $200. In January 2013, I heard a loud noise in the front of my exhaust. At this point I took it to Chevrolet Vehicle Repair. Chevrolet indicated that the front of the exhaust (including the catalytic converter) needed replaced and that the original parts were still on the car. That is, Bomar never replaced them. Chevrolet replaced them at a cost of $900. You hear about nickel and dime mechanics ripping people off because they don't know how to repair something but this is the first time I ever heard of a mechanic charging for replacing parts that they didn't actually replace. The sad part is I really have no recourse other than to report them to the Better Business Bureau. After all, I can't prove they didn't do the work. My advice - STAY FAR AWAY FROM BOMAR

Lakewood Lube

1.0(1)
3806 W Ridge Road, Erie

Once the oil change began, the mechanic in the pit, Alex started yelling profanities. During the course of the oil change he continued to throw a verbal fit, making statements which include "piece of sh*t F*#king Pontiacs" and 'I hope this F*#king piece of sh*t blows up!!" Please keep in mind, we were in the customer waiting area and could clearly make out evrything he was saying. The rant continued throughout the service. Furthermore, when the issue was addressed, his fellow employees stated "he is ALWAYS like that, but he is the owners, son's friend" and then blamed his behavior on the design of the vehicle, as Alex had burned his wrist. After our vehicle was removed from the bay, and the next one was pulled in Alex came up and saw it was also a Pontiac and kicked the Castrol sign to the rear of the vehicle almost striking it. This behavior is unacceptable, rude and lacks any type of professionalism.

Bizzaro Fleetwing Auto Sales

1.0(1)
7446 Edinboro Road, Erie

I bought a car from Bizzaro's 8/5/14, and it has turned out to be a huge mistake. As soon as I drove off the lot the car had two lights come on. One was check engine, and the other was EPC. At first I wasn't too concerned because Bizzaro's gives you a warranty with the vehicle. Long story short - Bizzaro's claimed to fix it 3 times, but each time all they did was reset the dash lights. Every time the lights came back on within 15 miles of driving it. Eventually, john the mechanic admitted to not knowing how to fix the car, and they told me to take it somewhere else.
