Midwest Engine Service INC

My experience purchasing a used vehicle was extremely frustrating and disappointing. The vehicle was supposedly inspected and ready to drive without further repairs with a rebuilt engine. However there were serious problems from day one. Including a dead battery, transmission-related difficulties, misfiring of the rebuilt engine and much more. Because of some of these problems I narrowly missed having accidents while driving the first 2 weeks. For example, the vehicle stalling on hills and the anti-lock brake system being on for over 3 months without any warning light. Also the tires lost significant air every two days in Winter and presently every two weeks. When I tried having these problems fixed under the warranty, the Midwest Staff denied that these were problems, calling these serious defects "Normal" or couldn‘t find anything wrong. I had to have most of these repaired by an independent mechanic, who found the problems easily. Within 5 months of owning this vehicle, it will have cost me $4,200 to repair defects that were hidden of denied by Midwest Engines. If you are thinking of buying a used vehicle from this dealership, be aware that they are dishonest and do not provide any customer service. They will take your money for the purchase of the vehicle and could care less after. And the only service person 99% your stuck and forced to deal with is COLIN who treats you horribly and is full of excuses and nothing else.

2118 S Stoughton Rd, Madison

Cameron and Clausen Automotive off Stoughton Road scammed me and I believe damage my vehicle on purpose. I have a hybrid car that needed a software update and coolant sensor changed. Clausen off Stoughton Rd was the only place I could find that dealt with hybrids locally but three out of the five yelp reviews were customers stating they were ripped off there. Because I only needed a software update and a coolant sensor changed I figured it’d be straightforward and relatively low risk of getting scammed. They ended up lying about the scope of work needed and charged me $750 to change a coolant sensor. I provided evidence proving they were lying to me and they instantly change their story on why all the extra work was done and refunded me a few hundred bucks. A few months later I get the same coolant sensor error. I call them up and ask if the sensor is under warranty. They can’t tell me but do ask that I bring it in. To be clear, I was gonna have them replace the sensor if needed and under warranty - and if anything more was needed I was gonna take it elsewhere. They call me a day later and tell me I have a radiator leak and want $2000 to repair. I’m confused as I park in my garage 100% of the time and have never seen a leak. The next day I am thinking about it when it occurs to me that I may NOW have a radiator leak after taking it there. I literally rush to my garage and look under my car. Wouldn’t you know, I now have a very large puddle of coolant on my garage floor. And not a small leak as it is everywhere (I took pictures), several gallons as the tank is now almost empty. Ripping off and scamming your customers is a dirt bag move. These people don’t care about you or your vehicle. They should be out of business.

5506 County Hwy CV, Madison

11/5/15 -Took '04 Cavalier in to Rob's the day engine & oil light came on. Asked for diagnosis and an oil change. Here's what I got - NO oil change, and I was assured there was no oil pressure or engine issues, or any transmission issues. So they turned the lights off and charged me $117 (for nothing at all). 11/22/15 - Driving down the Beltline, car stops, so for $85 I tow it to DiMaggios who advises the engine is blown! I show him the receipt from Rob's Automotive, and he tells me to talk with them as they should back their work and work with me. 11/24/15 - Rob won't bother calling me back at all, and Jake from Rob's Automotive tells me to go 'pee in the wind.' THIS PLACE SUCKS!! It used to be On the Road, but the other partner/owner left last year. Should have changed the name to Rob's RipOff.

I went here to get a headlight replaced. Their markup on bulbs is over 150%! Then they killed my battery leaving my interior lights on. Had to get a $70 jump and they won't reimburse me for it. The manager won't even call me back!!
