Steve at STS has been the only mechanic to work on and service my vehicles. Why? Because his thorough diagnostics are explained in clear and relevant terms. STS's labor rates are competitive with the industry but he always charges by the actual time it takes vs. rounding up the hours like most shops. He'll provide prioritization on what is really in need to be fixed as opposed to fixing and charging for everything in and around the effected area. The markup on materials is minimal if anything at all. His warranty on the work performed is always covered if needed at all. Steve is the best all-around auto mechanic that I've used in over 35 years of car ownership. Lastly, I have referred my family and friends to STS because of the way I have been treated as a customer.

I took my van in for an oil change but they forgot to put new oil in. As I was driving home, I heard a ticking noise. I didn't know what that ticking noise was. So when I got home I told my husband about the ticking noise. My husband lifted up the hood and checked to see if I had oil in my van. My husband knew what the ticking noise meant, that there wasn't any oil in it. Sure enough! There wasn't any oil in it!! So I went to Midas in Westfield,MA to get an oil change and they ruined my engine. I still had a van payment. We had to junk our van because Midas ruined my engine!! It was Awful because I had to pay off my van and couldn't even drive it because the engine was ruined!! I still owed $6,000.00 and had to make the payments to save my credit even though it was in the junk yard!! When I contacted Midas about this they gave me a $800.00 to compensate me for my mechanic bills because of this but they didn't offer to pay off my van even though it was their fault!! Buyer Beware!!! I couldn't find a lawyer that wanted to take on the case because Midas went out of business. They said that there wasn't anything they could do because of Midas going out of business. So I got totally screwed!!! Well, now I see that Midas in Westfield, MA is back in business so I'm not sure if it has new owners but I just want to share my story with you just to warn you!!

Gary has always been an honest & knowledgeable mechanic, I have never had a problem taking an automobile to him. So if you are shopping for a good mechanic... Try Gagne's you will not be sorry you did.

I was told by two other garages that I needed a new engine for my 2007 Honda Fit. I brought it to Northampton Transmission because they gave me a quote for engine replacement that was $1000 less than everywhere else, and they were honest about what could potentially happen to push the price up as they were working. But, a few hours after I brought my car to them, they called me back and said they had fixed the problem and I didn't need a new engine. They had tested the car to make sure the fix had held, and they explained that even if it didn't hold, I didn't need a new engine. They took the time to show me the parts they had replaced and explain how they had fixed it. Honest, helpful, fast.
