I have been to this shop several times with two different vehicles. A 99 Nissan Pathfinder and a 92 Ford F150. The employees here are professional and always happy to explain anything you need them to. They have always been upfront about cost, and they are won't try to force you into work you don't need. People who are worried that they will get up sold on something they do not need should have no fear with this place. They do their best to get the work done quickly as not to leave you without your vehicle long. Obviously this varies based on what you are having done, but like the issue with price, they will let you know ahead of time so that you can plan accordingly. The longest I went was one week, but I was having a laundry list of stuff done to the F150. It is a family truck that sat for years without use. If issues arise during your cars stay they will inform you promptly. I have never left this place unsatisfied, and have made it a point to refer friends, family, and co-workers when they are having car troubles. Jordan M. Knoxville, TN

AKA Earl's Marine. They told me my outboard failed because the automatic 2 cycle oil injector stopped working. So I paid big bucks for them to rebuild it, and then the rebuild did not last the break-in period. Why? Well they told me to mix the oil in the tank, and they told me the ratio of the mix. I did as they told me to. They told me wrong, they did not take into account that break-in requires more oil. (I talked to a Mercury rep from the Mercury factory who explained this to me.) In other words they should have told me to add oil to make up for what the automatic oiler put in, PLUS the extra oil needed for the break-period. They never did make it right. They did attempt to swap a good motor (From a boat of mine) with the motor they should have just replaced or rebuilt, but they screwed that up as well. They mounted it almost 2" to low, none of the gauges worked, the dash lights stayed on causing the battery to drain, they mounted the throttle control so close to the dash that I could not go to full throttle, etc, etc. To top it all off they told me that their rebuild failed because water in the fuel washed the 2-cycle oil off the cylinders. Two problems with that. First, I have a very good oil water separator filter. Second the factory rep told if there was that much water the engine would NOT EVEN RUN. The Mercury Factory Expert Mechanic told me that their explanation was impossible. He even wanted to explain it them but they refused to call him. If you want a headache go here.

I was wrong. I posted the comment on Sept. 14 about putting a hole in my oil pan. they did put the tiny hole in the pan, just not the way I said. I apologize. the plate that reinforces the drain plug hole is attached by 3 spot welds. if you tighten the plug too hard, it breaks one of the welds and puts a hole in the pan. that is what happened. I have learned that happens to often with japanese cars. you have to use a new gasket EVERY time or it leaks.

I paid for an alignment and struts on Saturn VUE, then had to take it back because they didn't replace the strut mounts and it was worse. The front tires quickly became bald between the time they installed the struts and when I returned for warranty, ( I should have realized the tires went bad because of their work), so I paid for new tires and asked about another alignment and was told they would take care of it. In three months the new tires, which were rated at 50,000 miles, were completely shot after less than 3500 miles. I took it back and the car sat in their lot for three days, (unlocked too!). They never called me so I drove over to discuss it, the new manager wasn't even there at 9:00 AM. There were only two guys in the shop, one working and the other just strolling around by the back. They ignored me until I said something, then refused to help, "it's above my pay grade", he said. I decided I didn't want them to touch the car and would request a refund - so I took the keys and asked for a call, never got a call. I drove my car to professionals. Apparently many mechanics around town know about this rip off. I was told that Ridgeway doesn't even own an alignment machine, and by law they have to ask permission before taking it off premises for repair, which was never done. I've really tried to give these "Christians" an opportunity to honor their work by making things right, but they won't even answer their phone or return calls. They should read Luke 12:58. Charging me for an alignment that wasn’t done and destroying both the original and also the new set of tires, combined with their behavior and the way they treated me - is a serious reproach on the name of the Lord. I already have an attorney working on this, all I wanted when I showed up after being ignored was a refund. This place really needs to go out of business to protect consumers. I don't want to give them even a single star but it won't let me post until I do. Perhaps they started out good years

Went in to troubleshoot a hop in the rear axle. Their people said the assembly was in need of a rebuild. This repair took two weeks after making a deposit on parts. Total cost was over $3500. In driving the vehicle after the repair was complete, a noise appeared which wasn’t there before. After reporting this to the them, I was told it was normal and it would go away. Never having heard of this condition after a differential rebuild, I thought it may be a vehicle specific normality. In contacting the manufacturer of the gear set, it was revealed that this in fact was not normal and the new gear set was destroyed as a result of improper installation. Their management informed me that they were too busy to look at it at the time. After several weeks, I was able to get an appointment to have them check the assembly. The vehicle sat at their shop for 3 weeks before I was able to get anyone from Ace transmission to answer their phone or return a call. I was then informed that they couldn’t fix it and that 26% of the total cost would be refunded. 2 weeks later the vehicle was recovered from their shop still not repaired. This “repair shop” effectively deprived me of my vehicle for the nearly the entire summer, cost me hundreds of dollars in alternate transportation on top of the $3500+ repair bill, and the vehicle still isn’t fixed. I found out too late that I wasn’t by any means the first victim. Someone I randomly met (yes, randomly met) on a job site described a similar issue with Ace transmission. After they get your money, you’re on your own. If you value your money, the safe repair of your vehicle, and your time, don’t go here.

Had brakes done awhile ago and got the warranty on the pads. Now i need new pads so i took it in to budget brakes just to learn (or be told) i needed my rotors machined. And the total for it all to be done was about close to $180.00 to $200.00. Well i told them i didnt want to do the rotors n they said they cant honor the warranty fir the pads unless they machine or replace the rotors. I wasnt aware that i get new pads with warranty just to still end up having to spend more then what it cost to have the pads put on the first time. Whats the point of the warranty if i still have to spend lots of money for something i cant use unless other services is going to be needed done that would cost more money then just having new pads put on. I ended up just going to auto zone and buying “NEW ROTORS” and “NEW PADS” for $111.00. A lot cheaper then what budget brake seems to try to scam me out of. Bottom line is they warranty seems to be a scam

Halls Service Center

Halls Service Center has lost my business. I went to Halls Service Center and asked them to check only the code from the car's computer, a job that takes literally less than ten seconds. Places like Firestone do it for free. But when I came to pick up my car, they wanted to charge me ninety dollars because they had done a full diagnostic scan on the engine including a test drive. When I explained that I had asked for only a code check, I was told that they don't do just a code check, only a full diagnosis. If that's true, then they should have told me at the beginning instead of charging me for a service that I did not request. I tried to get things worked out with a manager, but before even listening he told me that he wouldn't consider waiving the fee because he was already convinced that his garage was in the right. The man at the counter claimed that I never said that I only wanted the codes checked, and the manager said that the mistake was 100% my fault because I hadn't double checked about what was written on the order or asked about the price. He was right--it certainly was my mistake to trust Halls Service Center to perform only the services that I asked for and to trust that they would charge me a fair price for it. My conversation with the manager was calm and outwardly polite, but he ended up implying that I was just too cheap to take care of my car the way I ought, and the guy at the counter made it clear that he thought that I was lying and trying to cheat them. Eventually, the manager threatened to lock up my vehicle and start charging a $25 a day storage fee if I didn't pay up, which I eventually was forced to do. Even though I have used Halls Service Center several times before, I'm not going to take my business to a place that doesn't have a problem with a customer leaving feeling like he's had money twisted out of his hand.
