I want to thank Chris for his professionalism and care while repairing my daughters BMW while away at college. Chris arranged to have her car picked up and taken to his shop where he diagnosed the problem and replaced her starter at a very reasonable charge. My daughter is not familiar with San Antonio and did not have a way to pick up her car. Chris, understanding of our situation, volunteered to drop it off to her after hours. It’s nice to know that there are still shops out there that operate with integrity and our sincere to your needs. I look forward to doing business again. Thank you.

In 2010 I lived in NJ when I purchased my RV from Sun Motors. I purchased a 2003 class "C" RV in 2010 and it is still in good condition. I got a good deal and a good RV. At that time they worked with me and negotiated a few breaks from the owner whom had this RV on consignment with Sun Motors. I cannot say what type of business deals they do today, but they were honest with me and also worked with me to make the deal. They did have all the opportunity to take advantage of me after flying from NJ to Texas to purchase this RV. I would buy from them again. Paul

Tilden Car Care Center

Never go there for any service. I was referred to Tilden for alignment work from Discount Tire due to car pulling to the right when accelerating. The mechanic/owner did the alignment ($79) and told me that wheel bearing needs to be replaced to fix the pulling problem ($300). After the replacement and tire rotation, the pulling problem got worse (now pulling while decelerating too). I left my car the following week for a day to diagnose and fix the pulling problem. He did not have a clue about the problem by the end of that day. I wasted $379 and hours of time and ended up having my car worse than before. He did not care about bad reputation or review. I went back to Discount Tire and explained what happened. They removed his business cards from the shop and will not recommend to anyone. Don't waste your time and money for visiting this mechanic!

little over a month ago i took my 1993 for mustang to have it looked at the reason why the clutch came loose. their so called mechanic told me the first time it needed a factory made(original clutch), after several minutes of discussion i told him to do what it needed to fix the problem for good. He REASSURED ME the problem will be corrected for good. long story short it hasn't been fixed and i am out 600.00 dls on my recent encounter with the owner/manager he was very blatant, he threatened me overall i was poorly treated, and he charged me another 100.00 and supposedly now he nows why my clutch is not fixed until i do something else that will cost me more more when in reality they should have fixed it right the first time. I will never go back. It's worth mentioning that as i was being poorly treated there were several customers witnessing the whole situation. I sure hope they or anybody else who is willing to get ripped off does not go back. That type of business does not need to exist, specially now days when times are hard its not at all easy to just chuckle up 700.00 plus dls.

THIS IS THE SAME RESPONSE WE SENT THE BBB. AFTER OUR RESONSE THEY DROPPED MR VALENCIA'S DISPUTE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mr. Valencia is completely and grossly misrepresenting this entire situation. I will be happy to answer Mr. Valencia points one by one. First, Mr. Valencia claims to have been charged $300+. This is not true. He was invoiced for one hour of diagnostics with tax and with other widely accepted industry charges his invoice was $112.99 of which he paid $100. Which claims "is all he had". I can forward "a screen shot" of his service file showing only one invoice. I can also forward a copy of his service invoice reflecting these charges. Second, Mr. Valencia claims we made his vehicle worse. This is also a misrepresentation. One of our employees who used to be a friend of Mr. Valencia towed his non-running vehicle to our shop at no charge. It left the same way we received it, not running. Third, Mr. Valencia makes several widely inaccurate claims about the time frame of these occurrences. Again, these are wrong. The vehicle arrived in mid May was diagnosed a few days later. After our repeated calls to Mr. Valencia to give him an estimate for the repairs he became agitated and it was our impression he felt the estimate was too high. We told Mr. Valencia we would investigate less expensive options, i.e. used parts or perhaps find a company that rebuild his ECU. We did ultimately find a used ECU with a much lower estimate. Mr. Valencia's Jeep then sat here with no contact for approximately two months. We finally did reach Mr. Valencia and told him we would have to start charging him for storage if he did not remove his vehicle. He did finally remove his vehicle in late July. After "short paying" his bill. Tuesday, October 23, Mr. Valencia came into our business and asked that we fix his cigarette lighter that he said we "********** up". That's how he started his conversation. Mr. Valencia

8/14/16: My transmission broke down in downtown San Antonio. I was visiting from Las Cruces, NM. Needless to say, I was in a bind. It was Sunday and I had no wheels in a strange city far from home. I called a few places with 24/7 towing and Gary from Select Transmission was the first to get back to me. Beggars can't be choosers, so I had the truck towed to their shop. 8/15/16: The parking lot at Select is jammed with vehicles. This might be a sign of them being in high demand because of their excellent service, but it's really because they are slow and/or overbooked. I'd be fine with slow, IF the work is done properly, but that was not to be in my case. They were super nice and cool as they talked knowledgeably about automotive repair. I ended up ordering an upgraded 4L80E with a nationwide 3 year warranty and was able to get financing for the whole cost of the repair, approximately $3800. I told them it would be about 3 weeks before I could arrange to get back out to SA to pick up the truck. I caught a flight home for $350 since I had to work the next day. 8/29/16: I called Select to get an update. Gary said it would be ready by Wednesday, the 31st. I let them know I'd be coming out at the end of the week, which would be the start of Labor Day weekend. 9/2/16: I took an afternoon flight to SA (another $350) and got to Select at about 5pm to pick up the truck. They had apparently been rushed to put it back together...so much for being done by the 31st. Gary told me there was a noise and they couldn't figure out the source. I knew of a noise coming from my front transfer case every now and then, so I told him that was probably it. He also told me that the transmission would make some noise for a few hundred miles as it broke in. Not knowing any better, I drove it for about 90 miles while there was this loud scraping sound. I ended up parking it at a friend's place. Underneath the truck there was evidence of fluid leakage and the skid plate that protected the transmission was missing. The shop was closed for the weekend so I couldn't take it back until Tuesday. 9/3/16: I called Select and got Gary the lying rat on the phone. He was at some Labor Day weekend tailgate party and the shop was closed. He told me to check the fluid level. No help there, the fluid level was fine. 9/5/16: I wasn't going to drive the truck 700 miles making that noise and I wasn't going to leave my truck there for another three weeks so I arranged to have it shipped back to a transmission shop in El Paso for $500 and rented a car to drive home ($120). 9/10/16: My truck arrived at the shop in El Paso. I owe the guy there $400 for the balance of having my truck shipped. 9/22/16: I make it into the El Paso shop and pay the $400. He had already inspected the truck and pulled the rear transfer case off the back of the transmission. It had not been filled with oil, the filler plug on top was missing and the drain plug was loose. The inside was full of metal shavings. Total cost to replace with a rebuilt unit: $1241. Thanks a lot, Select Transmission! To be fair, the transmission itself was fine and installed properly. But PROPER removal and replacement of the rear transfer case is an integral part of the job and this was not done.

So sorry to be writing this, as we LOVE Tim Duncan, but he needs to know the shoddy details of his shop! My daughter paid for striping to be done on her car in May of 2015. The striping was wrinkled and looked bad after a couple months. My daughter called REPEATEDLY to request a time for the striping to be redone. She was told by "MIKE K." time & time again, to call back, because his "installer" had to match the stripe and he did not know what color it was, even though it was only a few months prior. My daughter was told repeatedly that she would have to WAIT for the installer to fit her into HIS schedule. EIGHT MONTHS later, when NO phone calls were being returned, we finally get a hold of "MIKE" again. He stated there would be a COST for the installer's time, for redoing the bad striping, even though we had a "5 Year" warranty, which we actually had to REQUEST in writing on the day of the install. VERY BAD SERVICE and RUDE People would take our calls and give no information, except to say, call back another time. Finally, after contacting "MIKE" and told him we have limited time between jobs to juggle transportation, my daughter left her car at their lot for a week, while on a business trip. "MIKE" forgot where he told her to put the keys to her car and seemed confused when we called. It is my guess they do this kind of thing very often! Finally, the installer got the job done, but they hardly acknowledged us at the front desk, and just drove her car to the front, so much as to say, here is your car, don't let the door hit you on the way out! We left without so much as a hello or goodbye! Thankfully, they did not request that we pay a cost for the installer's time, because they would be HARD PRESSED for that! Would NEVER go through those hoops again or do business with them again!

I took my daughters Rav4 in for service before she had to drive back to OKC. They said it needed shocks which I approved. They also suggested getting the headlights defogged, cabin filter replaced, air conditioner checked, etc. Normally I don't do this stuff at the dealer but since it was there already and my daughter needed to get on the road I approved the work. 6.5 hours later it was finally ready. I paid the bill and was reading the receipt while waiting for the car to be brought up when I realized they did not do the shocks. I just paid $350 for all the miscellaneous crap they talked me into and they didn't do the work I initially brought it in for. The service writer said they did not have the shocks in stock. I told him that he should have called me and I would have picked up the car and got my daughter on the road 6 hours earlier. He said he forgot. I spoke to "Bud" the manager and after telling him that my daughter had to get on the road immediately, he offered to order the shocks and discount the labor when they got them in. I suspect he only made the offer because he knew we couldn't take advantage of it. I am usually pretty sharp about smelling a rip-off but this one slipped by me. I got stung for $350 with a classic bait and switch. I would not trust Alamo Toyota to check the pressure in my tires. I can only assume a similar experience awaits those who buy cars there as well.

I went here because my door latch was broken and my door wouldn't open. When I told the mechanic all he did was pull on the door and handle(which wouldn't open of course) and decided that the problem was the motor in the door. He charged me over $200 and made me wait for five hours before they finally called and said that it was the door latch and he needed another $100 dollars. We said forget it and when we picked it up they didn't even clean off the grease marks they made of over the inside of the doors and window. AND MY DOOR STILL DIDN'T OPEN! We called again to have them fix the botched job and they said they were going to charge $50 JUST TO OPEN THE DOOR TO LOOK AT IT! DO NOT go to this place unless you want to be ripped off by half-ass mechanics. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

It had not been filled with oil, the filler plug on top was missing and the drain plug was loose. The inside was full of metal shavings. Total cost to replace with a rebuilt unit: $1241. Thanks a lot, Select Transmission! To be fair, the transmission itself was fine and installed properly. But PROPER removal and replacement of the rear transfer case is an integral part of the job and this was not done.

little over a month ago i took my 1993 for mustang to have it looked at the reason why the clutch came loose. their so called mechanic told me the first time it needed a factory made(original clutch), after several minutes of discussion i told him to do what it needed to fix the problem for good.
