Auto repair service near Benton, KY

I had a marvelous experience taking my newly acquired 2002 Chrysler 300M, christened "Katie," to Harlan Automotive. Since the dealership where I purchased Katie could not tell me if or when she had ever had transmission service I took her there to have that done. I was able to make the appointment online which was very convenient, and when I arrived there the friendly attendant presented me with a cute little computer to complete more information. The wait time in their comfortable lounge was much shorter than I had anticipated. They not only completed Katie's transmission service but they also went over her very thoroughly checking out all of her other systems as well free of charge. When they were finished with her I was given a checklist of everything they had checked out from bumper to bumper most of which was in great shape including letting me know that she had new brakes installed shortly before I bought her which was great to know. There were only 3 things, none of which were critical, that the list indicated would need attention in the near future. Harlan Automotive cares very much about helping me maintain my Katie so she will last longer. I have had follow-up e-mails from them to be sure I was happy. They have also given me the website address where I can see the history of Katie's care with them. That is just like having medical records for your family member. It is a very family oriented business, and they treat their customers and vehicles like extended family. I'm thrilled to have them as a skilled and reliable resource for Katie's continued care. I got an oil change. They let me know I have brakes to fix and mentioned the antifreeze was low. I assume they filled that as I paid the extra to have fluids topped off.

I told the manager the problem i was having He had the technician to check my tires to see if he could fine problem sure enough he found my problem with one of my tire sensors was rereplaced and my low tire pressure warning light stopped coming on more than i can say about the Mayfield store where i live they told me there was nothing wrong I will not visit that store again for anything

Went in for a low tire indicator in my dash. My vehicle does not indicate which one. I check the pressure before I went. Rear driver tire that was new and had been replaced by Plaza Tire was the lowest, so I had to assume it was the culprit. As I checked in, I ask if they had 2 more tires in stock like the rear tires that I recently replaced that I could replace the front ones now. I could only afford the 2 rear ones earlier. The guys behind the counter said he had NO RECORD of Plaza replacing any tires form me on this vehicle. FYI, I have receipt. OK no biggy, clerical error. They proceeded to get vehicle in. Tech came out a few minutes later and told me he checked the ONE tire and no leak. I said OK, i was guessing on which tire was making indicator come on. He proceeded to tell me he put air in all the tires and left, pulled my vehicle up front and they called me to check out. NO letting me know if they had an additional tire in stock to match the back tires, NO checking the older tire for leaks. Just pay for the services today and leave. The two guys up front were VERY much NON-CUSTOMER service minded. OH, and BTW, I pulled into a different location for an oil change, and they told me it would be a 2+ hour wait. pretty much done with Plaza Tire. I'll take my business elsewhere that apricates it.

On 12/29/2023 I took my 2018 Jeep Renegade to Plaza Tire in Metropolis, Illinois to have the right rear time repaired as it had a nail in it. After the employee removed the tire, he got me from the waiting area, pointed to the brake caliper and told me my brake pads were in need of immediate replacement to avoid damage to the brake rotors. I initially told him to proceed with the repair and he quoted me a price of around $169, but when I found out the parts would have to be sent over from Paducah, Kentucky I remembered I had to take my wife to an appointment later that day and would have to bring my vehicle back another day. The employee agreed and cautioned me not to wait too long to prevent further damage to the brakes. A few days later I decided I am perfectly capable of replacing brake pads as I have been a mechanic myself for most of my life. I purchased a set of new brake pads from a parts store in Paducah and proceeded to perform the repair on 1/6/2023. When I removed the brake calipers and pads, I immediately realized there was no need to replace the pads as they are barely worn and have many thousands of miles of life remaining. I also realized I was nearly ripped off by the Plaza Tire employee, and would have been had I not postponed the brake service. I took photos of the brake pads and showed them to my daughter as a witness I am a 77 year old veteran, and it really angers me to think I was nearly scammed by a local business. Rest assured I will NEVER patronize that business again and will share my story with everyone I know. They did repair the flat as I had road hazard insurance on the tires, but they did not properly inflate the other tires so I drove around with the low-pressure warning on until I got home and properly inflated all the tires. Wow, this place is just awful. I spoke with their very kind representative on the phone a week prior to bringing my car in for a simple brake change. We had an in depth conversation about what I needed and when. I was told they were a mechanic behind due to illness but if I brought my car in on Monday, it would not be a problem at all to have it done by late Monday afternoon (3/4ish). I told them exactly what the dealership said needed to be repaired. Longer story short - when I called to check in some OTHER lady, who was VERY VERY Rude and who has absolutely NO business representing a company - informed me that not only was it not ready, they hadn't even looked at it yet. It was coming on 1 PM at this point. A little while later, the same woman calls me back to inform me they will not be able to get it done as no one in town has the brake pads. I tried to explain the situation and find out the process in getting the equipment required and honest to God the woman was so incredible crass and rude that I was left baffled. I did not realize it was MY responsibility to ensure that their staff communicated. I did not realize it was MY responsibility to ensure they have what they need in stock to do the job THEY promised they could deliver. It is one thing to be a poorly ran business as this, but to be RUDE and hateful on the phone to a potential customer. What's worse? I get home and my tire has a hole in it from a screw. So these people actually ended up causing me stress AND costing me money to repair the tire that got damaged in their pathetic excuse for a business. AVOID them.
